Suguri started to skate in Alaska, where her father, an international pilot, was working. Her coach is the father
(and coach) of 1994 World Champion Yuka Sato (JPN). Suguri was the first lady from Japan to win an ISU
Championship (2001 Four Continents) since Sato won the Worlds in 1994.
