Basenotes
says:
This CK scent is designed for the gadget obsessed 15-24 aged male youth of today. The packaging is made completely of plastic and was inspired by mobile phones and bleepers. The scent is described as fresh and sexy (well aren't they all!) and is launched worldwide in autumn 2002. Crave has the distinction of being the first male CK fragrance to be launched prior to the female version.

"One word, STINK. That's the only way to describe Calvin Klein's latest experiment gone wrong. It doesn't know its place in the fragrance world. It tries to be sweet, but accomplishes it in the most disgusting manner. Smells like sweet toothpaste at first, and dries down to the sensual note of bacon grease. Plus what is up with the bottle? Its CK's way of skimming on the packaging by using cheap plastics. And this is launched towards teens? I'm sorry but the last time I checked slapping on bacon grease and toothpaste did not get me a date to the prom. " by

"The bottle is just horrible, but the juice... Okay, I must admit, that there's something intriguing in this scent: it is indeed a fresh and clean smelling, spicy citrus-scent, but does it smell synthetic or what??? I got it, it reminds me of Ajax! And it doesn't last.." by

"I just bought Crave yesterday and have already received many compliments on my new scent!! I think women really love the fresh/ clean smell! Calvin is so in tune with what is sexy!! " by

"OK, Calvin Klein, what's the deal. Where has the originality gone? I used to count on Calvin Klein for distinctly different scents that I could proudly wear to stand out from the crowd. BUT - 'Crave' smells just like 'Escape'. I mean, I really can't tell the difference. Are they thinking that the younger generation perhaps won't remember 'Escape'. I'm very disappointed." by

"I really like this fragrance! To me, it smells like a combination of Escape and Clinique Happy. I don't think fall was the best time to release this scent. Great for daytime or warm weather use, though. I've heard many complaints about the plastic bottle. Well, I think it's cute. I am *not* a trendy teenager, but I was amused by the container. The only thing that irritates me is it squirts the fragrance at you in a stream, rather than a spray. But it could just be my bottle. Overall, I think it's a good casual scent." by

"Guys, there's nothing to crave about this scent. It's so light and airy, that is has no real distinct fragrance of its own. And even if it did, this cologne had absolutely no staying power. What is Calvin Klein thinking about these days...he's sure not thinking about creating quick classics as in past years. Save your money for something worthwhile!" by

"Crave is in my opinion basically an updated version of men's escape, but with one major difference. It's MUCH better! Very clean going on and dries down nicely. Far superior to "Truth," which was too green for me. Also, people notice the fragrance without being overpowered by it. Comments have all been positive. I hope is gets a broader customer base than younguns. I'm 50+ and I think it's great!" by

"I don't know about you, but I am very tired of scents that have the lifespan so short that before I walk out the door the scent is gone. It seems like Calvin Klein is becoming the king of that realm. Truth for men has the same problem...good scent but just not lasting. I would rather not have to carry my cologne bottle around to reapply. So for me, Crave is a loser." by

"Havent seen the bottle yet, but I definitely didnt think of the younger age bracket when I smelt this perfume. Its a mossy wood, with some nice warm notes. I'm not usually a fan of mossy woods, but this is a great interpretation." by
