National Lacrosse Hall of Fame

* 2004 National Lacrosse Hall of Fame Class *

The National Lacrosse Hall of Fame has annually inducted individuals based on outstanding lacrosse achievement and/or contribution since 1957. The mission of the Lacrosse Hall of Fame is to honor men and women, past and present, who by their deeds as players, coaches, officials and/or contributors, and by the example of their lives, personify the great contribution of the sport of lacrosse to our way of life.

Men's and Women's Lacrosse Hall of Fame Nomination Committees annually evaluate all candidates on file and present up to five men and five women to the US Lacrosse Board of Directors for election. A 75% vote of the US Lacrosse Board of Directors is required to elect a candidate. A formal induction ceremony occurs in Baltimore annually. Candidates may be nominated and elected in one of the following categories:

  • A truly great player who has contributed noteworthy service to the game of lacrosse over the years.
  • A truly great player.
  • A truly great coach who has contributed noteworthy service to the game of lacrosse over the years.
  • An outstanding player, who was also an outstanding coach or official, who has contributed noteworthy service to the game of lacrosse over the years.
  • A truly great coach.
  • A player who has made a truly great contribution to society.
  • An individual who has demonstrated long, dedicated and exceptional service to the game (no more than one nominee per year may be inducted under this category).
  • A qualified individual whose career was completed at least forty years prior to the current year and who, in the committee's opinion, has been overlooked.

In order to be nominated to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame, a Nominee Questionnaire must be submitted by, or on behalf of, a candidate. Candidates must possess character beyond reproach, and at least 15 years must have passed beyond the actual or projected date of the college/university graduation of a candidate in order to be eligible for consideration. However, college attendance is not a prerequisite for consideration.
