A Dream Come True for Cardinals Cantu
A Dream Come True for Cardinals Cantu
In 1996, 15-year old Rolando Cantu attended the NFL’s American Bowl in his hometown of Monterey, Mexico. Always a dreamer, Cantu watched the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Dallas Cowboys in a preseason match-up and decided then and there that one day he would play in the National Football League.

Johnson Doesn’t Need The Spotlight To Shine
To some, it may be easy to forget about Bryant Johnson. His numbers aren’t overwhelming and he isn’t the gaudiest player in the National Football League. But there’s a science to his success, and the success of those around him.
Antonio Smith Moves From Stands to Field
Defensive end Antonio Smith went to work Monday through Friday just like the rest of us for the last 13 weeks of the season. On Sundays, his ticket was punched and he stood in the stands with the rest of the Cardinals faithful but instead of cheering his favorite player, Smith was rooting for his co-workers.
Rackers Makes All the Right Choices
Neil Rackers had decisions to make coming out of high school. He was a standout baseball, soccer and football talent who was receiving offers to play two of those sports at the collegiate level. Rackers was convinced that soccer was his future.
Dockett Knows What It Takes To Win
Cardinals head coach Dennis Green has made it clear he likes drafting players from big time collegiate programs. They know how to prepare, they expect to play, and they expect to win.
Q&A; With Bertrand Berry
"It was extremely difficult, anytime I am not on the field I feel like I am letting my teammates down and so to not be out there contributing, that was definitely frustrating, but I just couldn’t do it," answered Berry of having to come out in the Carolina game. "My leg wouldn’t allow me to go and do the things I normally do and so even though it was frustrating, I understood that I just couldn’t physically do it. Mentally it hurt me, I was crushed, but there was nothing I could do. I try to make sure I’m as healthy as I can be and that I stay on the field as much as I can."
Kolodziej Earns His Keep
A year ago, defensive tackle Ross Kolodziej was seeing the game of football from a totally different perspective. Instead of suiting up for NFL game action on Sundays, he was spending time as a volunteer coach at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, a division III school where his younger brother plays ball.
Q&A; With WR Karl Williams
"They are a talented group," said Williams of the receiving corps he works with every day. "They are just young. Everything is going to come with time and when you have guys like Fitzgerald, Anquan, Bryant Johnson, they are very young, very explosive, and they all want to make plays when they are out there. It is just a matter of time before everyone gets on the same page and they’ll be dangerous every week. You have to approach a game like a practice, go out there and work hard and have fun. When you are out there just having fun with a bunch of guys, you just start making plays and you then you realize how easy it can be."
Stepanovich Stepping Into Starting Role
When center Alex Stepanovich was drafted by the Cardinals in the fourth round, no one expected with Pete Kendall entrenched at center that the rookie out of Ohio State would be starting for the Cardinals by the beginning of training camp. Sure, Head Coach Dennis Green said he drafted guys who were ready to step in and contribute immediately, players who came from solid collegiate programs, but no one predicted this move, especially not Stepanovich.
