Troop 111 Eagle Project Ideas

Preliminary Comments - This writeup is complementary to the extensive guide entitled: "The Eagle Notebook - A Conversational Guide for Scouts and Parents," which you should read (and re-read) before beginning your Eagle Project. Note that the provided list derived from various Eagle Projects that have been completed by Scouts in Arlington County (that I have heard of or have personally approved), but is by no means a limit to what you can do! Use your imagination - the possibilities are almost limitless! Remember, however, that any project proposal must go through the complete approval process before you begin - do not start any project without approvals! Again, this and many other details are spelled out in the above-mentioned Eagle Notebook Guide.

1)Organize and run:

2) Repaint all the lines on a Church or School Parking Lot; paint fire zones and Handicapped Parking and access areas. Or paint all the guardrails, steps and railings outlining the parking lot(s) and buildings.

3) Clean up a Community Park - collect trash, clear underbrush, paint sheds or other buildings, eradicate graffiti, etc.

4) Build and Install:

5) Clear a old, overgrown and neglected cemetery.

6) Clear and paint a community's fire hydrants.

7) Continue the "Chesapeake Bay Drainage - Do Not Dump!" program on the County's culverts and storm drains.

8) Paint and do other maintenance work on a Church or School Day-Care Center.

9) Adopt a Hospice or Shelter for a Winter - organize groups to do all leaf-raking and snow shoveling.

10) Develop (or upgrade) a comprehensive Webpage for a Church, School or Community Center.

11) Adopt and assist (i.e., provide regular volunteers to) a soup kitchen or homeless shelter for a season.
