 A military jury has sentenced Sgt. Hasan Akbar to death for a deadly grenade and rifle attack on his own comrades in Kuwait during the opening days of the Iraq invasion. Akbar, standing at attention between his lawyers as the verdict was delivered, showed no emotion. The court-martial is the first time since the Vietnam era that an American has been prosecuted on charges of murdering a fellow soldier during wartime. | |
