Dutch publisher Xing Interactive has released an updated demo of Cloven Crania Meadow, the game developed by Unicejo Entertainment. In this fantasy RTS, you are put in control of a human Kingdom. Surrounding this Kingdom are many hostile Kingdoms populated by monsters and other evil creatures. It's your job to manage your cities, raise armies, feed your people and crush enemy attempts at invading your territory. You have to build up your strength to take the fight to the other Kingdoms and rule the world eventually. More terrain means higher morale for your troops and therefore higher effectivity in combat. An update for the retail version is also available (thanks: 3DGamers).

Digital Illusions sent out a press release announcing that more than one million copies of Battlefield 2 were shipped to
retailers until 30th of June 2005. The games in the Battlefield series, including Battlefield 2, have now sold approximately 6 million copies. Don't forget to grab the demo if you haven't done so yet.

Microsoft today announced that a new Game With Fame session will take place on August 7th. This time is Paul Oakenfold and Seb Fontaine who will be chatting and playing Forza Motorsport with Xbox Live gamers on the 7th August between 1pm – 3pm GMT. Atari today announced they are planning a GBA version of the well-known Driv3r. There are 25 missions with the first 12 taking place in Miami and the rest in France, Nice and each city has over 50km of streets for you to explore. There are mini-games included (Slalom, Checkpoint, Trailblazer and Destruction) and you have complete freedom of movement inside the cities. Electronic Arts today announced financial results for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30, 2005. Net revenue for the first quarter was $365 million, down 16 percent as compared with $432 million for the prior year. Sales were driven by Medal of Honor European Assault and Battlefield 2, each of them reaching platinum status during this period. Amongst the highlights mentioned, we found out that EA's agreement with John Madden was renewed for 12 years and that they have 26 percent revenue share on the PSP in North America since launch. Koei today announced they obtained the rights to publish in Europe Makai Kingdom: Chronicles of the Sacred Tome, the latest title in a line of hit strategy roleplaying games (Disagaea: Hour of Darkness, La Pucelle: Tactics, and Phantom Brave). Scheduled for release in PAL territories on October 28th, the game features a new summoning system referred to as the INVITE system that summons your facilities that contain army units to the battlefield. Every facility summoned to the battlefield will contain your troops that are then deployed to battle your hated enemies.

JoWooD today announced they will showcase The Guild 2 (E3 2005 Trailer) at the Games Convention in Leipzig, an exhibition which will be available to the public starting with August 18th. The game is under developement at 4Head Studios and will be released in the summer of 2006.

3000AD, Inc. today announced that Universal Combat A World Apart will be going on sale worldwide week of August 1st via various online e-commerce companies and broadband delivery sites - the game will retail for $29.99 across all mediums. Universal Combat Gold, the updated version of Universal Combat, is going on sale week of September 1st via the same online sites and will retail for $19.99 across all mediums. Universal Combat Gold features all the content and revisions from the original Universal Combat title plus all new scenarios, revised graphics engine, new 3D content and more. The official Diplomacy website is now live, offering new screenshots (added in our gallery), general information about the game and gameplay, as well as development team updates. During the months leading up to release, the site will be continuously updated with strategy tips and hints, online features, character descriptions, the latest screenshots etc. The site also introduces Max, Paradox's interactive assistant, who will answer reader questions on the game and the company. Web page Max has been built by Humany but can also be found in the game, where he operates in a totally different role designed to express emotions, together with 13 other avatars. Diplomacy is scheduled for release in Q4,2005 and has a SRP of $39,99.

Matrix Games today announced they acquired the rights to the VASSAL Engine from Vassal Engineering and intends to improve and support it as a new platform for game publishing. The engine lets you create your own, individually branded, commercial standalone application that moderates any turn-based game for human-vs-human play. Check the press release for more info.

GMX Media and Cornered Rat Software announced that the official Battleground Europe website has been launched, offering screenshots and info on this MMOG scheduled for release across Europe on August 26th 2005. The game world of Battleground Europe is set in the years 1940 through 1942 and includes Belgium, Luxembourg and parts of Holland, Germany, France and England, with the current game map measuring over 354,000 square miles and featuring more than 36,000 strategic objects such as factories, city buildings, bunkers and bridges placed among 4,000+ facilities in 450 cities and towns. Battleground Europe will be published in the US by Tri Synergy on September 1st 2005.

Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes is the sequel to Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders and will be released in the UK by Deep Silver during late September this year. The game features improved epic battles, new characters, environments, units, new multiplayer options, improved user interface with simplified game menus, adjusted difficulty levels and more. The second movie of Dead Rising is now locally mirrored, offering thirty seconds of in-game footage from this survival horror game which will be available in North America, Europe and Japan in 2006. The hero of the story is Frank West, a grizzled freelance photographer who has made his way to an idyllic suburban town to get his hands on the scoop. To his surprise, he soon discovers that the town has been overrun with zombies. As he fights tooth and nail against hordes of gruesome zombies, Frank must discover the cause of the disturbing outbreak. Full of mystery and thrills, this title is sure to please.      3. Season 2 of the International Carball League (ICBL) kicks off today with 12 teams. You can still get in on the Carball action by signing up for the free-agent list. A new map, CB-Holdem, is being featured as the season begins - poker players will feel right at home while they pilot their cars and attempt to score goals in between piles of poker chips.

Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. announced today that it has been notified that the staff of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Division of Advertising Practices is conducting an inquiry into advertising claims made for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Take-Two intends to fully cooperate with the FTC inquiry, and believes that it acted in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. We remind you that due to the Hot Coffee mod (locally mirrored here) the Mature rating for GTA: San Andreas has been replaced with Adults Only 18+ (story).

Square Enix, Inc. today announced that they will release Final Fantasy XI: The Vana'diel Collection on August 16th, 2005, at a suggested retail price of $29.99. The compilation contains Final Fantasy XI, the expansion packs Rise of the Zilart, and Chains of Promathia, as well as the Tetra Master mini-game. In addition, the package will include a Vana'diel Buddy Pass which allows a friend to create an account and play the basic Final Fantasy XI game free for 30 days. Also included is an iTunes Collector's Card for a free music download from the Final Fantasy XI Collection.
