This year's CUWPC varsity match will be held on saturday 30th April at Colours pool and snooker club in Oxford. The match will be played to E&UKPF rules (also known as BAPTO); while these are very different to the World Rules played in the college leagues, the team has spent the last year familiarising themselves with the rules in regular practice sessions. The women's team is looking particularly strong this year, and they will be hoping to finish a successful season in the college leagues with a victory in the varsity match.

The men's varsity match will be held the following weekend, on 7-8th May, at Cambridge Snooker Centre, and will be played to World Rules. Match reports and results will be posted as soon as they are available!

A report on the A team's performance at the UPC 8-ball championships is now up - it can be found here.

The second UPC 8-ball championships were held last weekend at McCluskey's snooker club in Spondon, Derby. Both the A and B teams put in strong performances, with the A team reaching the last 16 - only being knocked out 8-5 by the Championship winners, Durham. The B team fared even better, reaching the quarter finals before succumbing to Cardiff B, the eventual Trophy winners.

There were a number of good performances in the individual competitions as well, with Simon Williams reaching the final of the Trophy competition, and Christos Chamberlain reaching the quarters of the Championship event. A number of players made it to the last 16 stage, and Rob Cork has been selected to play for the English Universities team in the Home Nations competition on 9th-10th April.

Full report to follow soon...
