Guus Bosman.nl is my online home, which I use to stay in touch with friends and family. By reading my online diary everybody can stay up-to-date on what's going on in my life.
I am a Dutch software analyst and consultant living in Arlington, Virginia, USA. My girlfriend is Alexandra Tabova, who works for the World Bank in its headquarters in Washington D.C.
We live in an apartment in Court House Plaza, right above the Court House metro station in Arlington. My work is located in Rosslyn, about an half hour walking from home. I work as an analyst for an IT firm.
Alexandra and I used to live in in Haarlem, the Netherlands. We have been together since we met each other in the US in the summer of 1998. Sasha came to the Netherlands in 2000, where I was studying. She studied one year Dutch language there, and then got a Master's degree at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. I also graduated from the Vrije Universiteit, and I have a MsC in Computer Science (read my resume online). In 2003 Sasha found a (then temporary) job at the World Bank, and after a year being separate, I moved to the US in November 2004.
I've worked for Chess-iT, a hard- and software firm in the Netherlands from December 2000 to November 2004. My main expertise there was architecture, design and development of complex Internet based applications in Java (J2EE). The majority of our projects was for financial customers.
This website
The articles on this website are divided into several topics. I keep track of some of the books I read online, some of the last books I read were: the Island of the Day Before, the Da Vinci Code and the Art of Java Web Development. From February till June 2004 I did a German language course at the Goethe Institut in Amsterdam, which was great fun.

My official name is Guustaaf Bosman, in daily life people call me "Guus". This is a typical Dutch name, and some non-Dutch speakers use "Chris" instead.
Short history
- 1978: born in Opperdoes, the Netherlands
- 1981: Ettie, my sister is born
- 1987: moved to Middenmeer, the Netherlands
- 1991: highschool, "Wiringherlant" in Wieringerwerf, the Netherlands
- 1997: graduated highschool, trip to China with my father
- 1997: started Master's Computer Science at the Vrije Universiteit; moved to Amsterdam, the Netherlands
- 1998: worked summerjob in Diamond Horseshoe Ranch (Antonio's), Tannersville USA. Alex and I met there.
- 1999: worked summer job in Six Flags Great America, Chicago IL
- 2000: Sasha started Master's Economics at the Vrije Universiteit; started working at Net.Footworks (part of the Chess group)
- 2001: moved to Amstelveen, the Netherlands
- 2002: moved to Haarlem, the Netherlands
- 2003: graduated university, full-time work at Chess
- 2004: moved to Washington D.C., USA
