Angela Carfour (Lydia Kyasht) is engaged to the Vicomte de Beauvais
(Ronald
Colman) but in love with another man. "The black spider", a
gentleman-thief
is robbing the millionaires of Monte Carlo. The mischievous Angela plays a
prank on her aunt by stealing her jewels. And now a hobby detective
suspects
her. But finally the real culprit is unmasked...
"The black spider" was Ronald Colman's last film before he emigrated to
the
United States. It was shot on location in Monte Carlo and the critics
liked
it. Sadly it shares the fate of all of Colman's british films : existing
prints were probably destroyed during the 1941 London Blitz.
