Big Movie Fan from England
An American Werewolf In Paris is an inferior sequel to An American Werewolf
In London which was released in 1981. However, as a film on it's own merits,
it stands out very well. Try and forget it is a sequel and you have an
entertaining movie.
Some US students are in Europe and become embroiled in an adventure
involving a society of werewolves. Some parts of the film are hard going at
times but the pros far outweigh the few cons this film has. The special
effects, use of lighting, music and dialogue are certainly very well used in
this film and the plot deserves credit for originality.
The film is very scary in parts (not as scary as it's predecessor however)
and will certainly have you reaching for the light switch if you're
happening to be watching in the dark. The make-up techniques are
fantastic.
All in all, whilst the film is not as good as it's predecessor (what sequel
truly ever is?), it certainly deserves to be ranked up there with other top
werewolf movies and it deserves full marks for being a fairly enjoyable
movie.
