When and how did you get interested in Chess?

When I was 18, I heard about Chess from Mr. Murooka, also a professional player. In these days I also learned about the rules of Chess. I began to play it often four years ago, after I met Mr. Pineau, a Frenchman living in Japan.

Do you have any Chess idols?

Attacking players like Tal, Fischer, and Kasparov.

Who is your favourite Chess writer, and why?

Actually I don't know much about Chess authors.

What is your favourite Chess game?

Byrne vs Fischer, USA championship 1963-64.

How much do you play and practice Chess?

I attend Chess meetings twice a month. Also sometimes I read books or magazines, or play with a computer, but not so often: maximum twice a week.

Do you have any goals or ambitions in Chess?

My aim is not to win games, but to play as many games as possible with very strong players like grandmasters.

Are you planning to play any Chess tournaments in the near future?

It's very difficult to take a vacation of more than a week, so I will try, once or twice a year, to participate in high level (at least for me) tournaments.

How do you think about the current state of FIDE, or Kasparov?

I feel that the current FIDE world championship system is not appropriate for selecting the true champion. It's not interesting to see a tournament in which, in many games, one seeks a draw from the first move. Personally, I would like to see a strong tournament (an extended version of Linares, let's say), in which the top 10 players will play a double round robin.
