Description:
Do you want to keep you installed palm applications always up-to-date?

TrackerDog helps you to track the latest version numer and release date for each you installed Palm programs and the most important is this applictaion is totally free for you.

TrackerDog comprises two parts, TrackerDog client and TrackerDog server.

TrackerDog client runs on Palm compatible device. It collects all the applications that you installed on Palm.

TrackerDog server is a data server. It collects many released palm applications' version and release date information.

Whenever you perform a HotSync, TrackerDog client connects to TrackerDog server via the Internet and tracks if there is any new version.

You can also track the versions in TrackerDog client if your Palm can connect with the Internet via modem, mobile phone or wireless device (802.11).

Features:

  • Automatically lists all the installed Palm programs from either main memory, flash or memory expansion card.
  • Automatically tracks the version and release date information via the Internet whenever you perform a HotSync.
  • Enables you to manually track the version directly from Palm via either modem, mobil phone or wireless device(e.g. Tungsten C, Clie UX50).
  • Uses different colors to show you which app is up to date and which one has newer version.
  • Supports hires (320x320) and hires+ (320x480, 480x320).
  • Supports small font.
  • Enables you to export application list to Memo Pad.
  • Supports Palm 5-way navigator.
  • Supports Clie Jog Dial navigator.

  • Last but not least, color is also supported by TrackerDog.

I was surprised how usefull this is. I don't have to worry about those annoying left overs from deleted files taking up my memory. It works perfectly on my m125.

A great idea, but a little limited. I love the version tracking, but the automatic download is not useful, because it _always_ downloads tracked files regardless of whether any download is actually needed, and because there's no simple way to tell which downloaded files you need to install because they've been updated. Would be far more useful if it only downloaded files that actually needed upgrades and weren't already in the download directory, and if it somehow marked which downloads still needed to be installed.

This is a superb application. One suggestion I have that would make it perfect is tracking of data chunks for each application. While most apps only have one **DB.prc file, some like dictionaries can have many (including fonts etc.). Those data chunks can be scattered over Palmcard and a few vfs folders. Would be very useful on the devices with several VFS slots. Same thing for copies of apps down into card folders (e.g. backups).

I used it for more than 6 months. It always works very well and tracks the latest version for my installed apps. It's a must for all Palm users. I think PalmOne should build-in TrackerDog in their machines.

This keeps crashing my Clie SJ-22! Whenever I go down the list and get to FreeWrite, my Clie just stopps. Do I need to update TrackerDog or FreeWrite? Otherwise, this software seems pretty good (I like the intregation with HotSyncs!).
