MSO-Con 2005 MSO Events

26th August-29th August 2005
(Friday-Monday, August Bank Holiday weekend)

MSO-Con is the renamed "Hobby Games Festival", which takes place as part of The Mind Sports Olympiad at the University of Manchester (formerly UMIST), conveniently close to both main railway stations and decent food and drink.

It is a small but imperfectly formed gathering of gamers, with lots of organised tournaments, but also the opportunity to play other games of your choice.

As well as the tournament schedule below, there will be:
  • A Victor Ludorum Championship (which Geoff Brown will be organising, Friday to Sunday), for the best results in non-tournament games, encouraging the play of many different games.
  • A JKLM games stall
  • Warfrog games will be on sale as last year
THE EVENTS

JKLM Games are kindly providing prizes for all tournaments this year.

Friday Saturday Sunday Monday
a.m. Lost Cities JKLM Taster Acquire Puerto Rico
p.m. Age of Steam Settlers of Catan
Evening Carcassonne go home...
  • The JKLM Taster Tournament lets you try out lots of new games.
  • The Settlers tournament is this year's World Championship qualifier for England.
  • There are also other competitions going on which aren't part of MSOCon, like Poker: these are charged separately, see the main MSO schedule.
  • If you have copies of any of these games, please bring them! We can never have too many sets (especially Lost Cities!)
The Cost

£20 for a four day con, though there may be a surcharge for booking on the day. Rooms start from £26 per night; see form below.
