The original debuted in 1967, the year my favorite athlete of all time made his major-league debut.
He gave me baseball fever
hotter than a pepper sprout.

the man who hit the baseball out.
He's Reggie Jackson.

He'll take you downtown.
Well, Oakland welcomed Jackson.
Took Charles O. Finley's wealth.
Three titles later, Charlie O got cheap.
Reggie looked out for himself.
So Reggie Jackson
went to New York.
"Hey, Charlie O!" said Jackson
"you're a real cheap dork!"
He breezed into that City
Billy Martin had a fit.
Feuded with his new teammates as well
but then they saw how he could hit.
That Reggie Jackson
Mister October
gave the Boston Red Sox
and L.A. Dodgers what-fer.
Years later George Steinbrenner
told us his biggest regret:
Lettin' Reggie go, and he signed with the Angels.
Hey, at least it wasn't the Mets.
That Reggie Jackson
500 home runs.
We watched Reggie Jackson
baseball's big gun.
Now he's a Hall-of-Famer.
On Old-Timers' Day he comes out
wearing Number 44 like days of old
teaching Yank kids how to clout.
He's Reggie Jackson
and that's a fact.

This is baseball fan-tastic.....excellently written tribute.....five runs....I was thinking about doing one to this good old JC /JC duet...and may at some future time.
being a dodger fan, i don't have the sweetest memories of mr. jackson, but there's no denying that he was a great ballplayer and this is a great parody...5s

There have been a handful of players who are freaky good come October, but none like Reggie. Enjoyed this.
The hard part, Royce, is doing these parodies "one piece at a time."
another baseball one, but I had to read this because I love the OS, although I only know the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazelwood version - but I can imagine Johnny Cash doing it - nice write, MP - 555

Very good parody, MP. Except that when Charlie Finley got cheap, Jackson took a one season detour in Baltimore before he went to New York.
