It's not really often we can talk about bicycle games, and everytime it happens they revolve around the 'BMX' franchise; it has been like this from c64 times indeed (that BMX was way too hard for me...) that computers have been blessed by bicycle/bmx games. This time to the aforementioned tag, they added some big guy name, I guess he's the Pelè of BMX, sadly not many people care about who's the best doing stunts with a bike for kids. So, just to give a fast idea, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX is like one of those snow/skate board stunt games, just with a BMX under your 'virtual' ass.
Everything good that can be said about THPS2 and alikes can be said about this title, it's fairly entertaining and has a really wide array of options. Exactly same idea can be applied to bikes, cars, naked men, anything, it's just about doing most extreme and better looking moves, combos, stunts and alikes, they did just bring to a game one of human tendencies. Saying the game applies to that huge number of people that love this gaming genre, I would like to say that a bigger effort has been doing in this BMX frenzy, the game can be played with classical single/multiplayer variatons, though it has a great single player arcade mode where you will be forced to complete some tasks like reaching a certain amount of points, grind certain objects, make a 50ft long grind and so on. The game is easily controlled, and I'm not saying it's easy to accomplish tasks, just they made their best to let you exploit an hundred moves just with 4 keys, grind, jump, trick... your fingers will really cross and hurt! Graphics and Sounds are just enough to be coupled with a game published in 2000, whilst about the music I have something to say... it's some sort of techno-pop... you will find it funny at first, all in all it's not bad, but if you're planning to love this game and play it for 5 hours in a row, you will find the music extremelly hurting and willing to choose amongst speakers nuking or music removal. Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX is a nice game, just be sure to like this gaming genre and to have some time to learn all the moves at first, otherise you will be taken out of the game in 20 mins. This gaming genre is about getting better and better, it's a matter of rolling your bike whilst doing huge 30ft jumps, but it takes a lot of time to reach perfection and even after you will find you can make some more points, higher jumps, longer combos, there's really a wide array of things you can do, exploiting all may proove really funny.
