Tomato is a special program for running tournaments on ICC.
Tomato is almost always logged in. You can get more information by doing
finger Tomato, "tell Tomato help", and "tell Tomato info".
Thousands of tournaments have been run by Tomato managers. There are
scheduled tournaments, tell tomato help scheduled. There are many other
tournaments every day with various time controls. The special Tomato
channel where you can get info on tournaments and talk to the players and
the Tomato managers is 221. You can request a tournament, type tell 221
'a 5 0 swiss would be nice.' You can check on tournaments, type tell 220
'tournaments?'
There are now 8 copies of the Tomato program, each with its own channel,
and tournament type:
Tomato channel 46 blitz
Flash channel 49 bullet
Slomato channel 222 standard/long blitz
WildOne channel 223 wild (chess variants)
Cooly channel 224 any
LittlePer channel 225 any
Ketchup channel 228 any
Olive channel 230 any, especially Time Odds
Whenever a tournament is announced, you can join via "tell bot join".
If you aren't already in the tournament channel, do "+ch ##" to join channel
##.
Bots make the pairings for each round, including the color assignments,
and prints these to channel ##.
Tomato has its own set of help files and commands. Tomato also keeps
information about each player. Type tell tomato help and tell tomato finger.
Tomato managers volunteer a lot of their time to run the tournaments and
help players with questions. You can see a list of Tomato managers who
are logged in by typing tell tomato managers.
Tomato managers are not ICC admins in general (although some are) so they
don't have control over other aspects of ICC besides the Tomato programs.
Please be courteous to managers and other players, and have fun in the
Tomato tournaments! For information on becoming a Tomato manager, please
refer to help manager-new. Thanks.
