mahmoudkubba: <technical draw>: A dest is when the match it self is the whole blitz, the whole condition or the whole case study..etc and it is usually contain lots of small other games and aside games...etc. These games r played as a tournament or even more than one tournament of course in a special system like for example the Swiss system. UC even lots of great chess players do not know but little of what they r really doing and many times I ask creator (God Allah) to not let me with a win, draw, lose ..etc lose the real point of truth, justice and fare at all but to play as right as possible always and forever!

suenteus po 147: <nikolaas> My vote for best username goes to <PawnOfTheDead>.

For those of you who may be wondering why I was nominated (aside from the sheer bizarreness of it), there's a story that goes with the name. I posted it here: Raymond Keene a while ago, and if you're curious you can read about it there. If you have a lot a of people on your ignore list you might have to go back a couple of pages to find it.

mahmoudkubba: <OhioChessFan: <wannabe>, you may confess your M Sinn here.> In fact I do remember one day in Eastern Europe when one of the bishops knowing how nice and good I am when he let me become the one the people confess to even of the fact Im not Christian. And I remember I tried hard to solve at least one problem. It is when there r two dark rooms one for me and one for the person who want to confess with a hard try to keep the secrets as hidden as possible.

Bishop <Mahmoudkubba>, if you have some time, can I confess my sins to you?

JoeWms: <WannaBe> et al. Before you guys make the long trek to India to confess your (many) sins to <Mahmoudkubba>, first check a user bio a little closer to home: <weisyschwarz>, the user who modestly nominated himself for worst user name.

Isolani: <Sneaky> Interesting take on the en passant discussion. Subsequent to my post I recalled reading somewhere that if the en passant rule was removed there would be several French and Dutch Defense lines that would be more popular. I do not know which specific lines however.

brankat: It has been almost 3 years since the brutal attack on Svetozar Gligoric; for more than 6 months I have not heard any news in regards to Gligo. Would any of kibitzers have some more recent info on Gligoric? Thank You.

chessgames.com: <Here's a question about pgn notation. Take this position from the Sicilian, Moscow variation for instance: [DIAGRAM] Now if Black plays 4...Nf6 how do you write this move for pgn? Is 4...Nf6 sufficient or do you need to enter 4...Ngf6 even though 4...Ndf6 is an illegal move? Thanks!>

This is a situation where one piece is in an absolute pin (pinned to the king). It is legal PGN notation, and proper Algebraic notation, to say simply "Nf6", as "Ngf6" is redundant.

HOWEVER: We have noticed that a great many PGN viewers will not behave properly in situations like this. The java viewers we use at this site are no exception. Therefore, for the sake of maximum compatibility, we suggest that you do it the redundant way in cases like this, and actually specify the file or rank of the piece that is to move.

notsodeepthought: <Chopin: <Chopin> is interested in what <KVCS> has to say. Why is <Chopin> speaking like <KVCS>.> <Notsodeepthought> was wondering about that too, since <Notsodeepthought> is not sure it's such a good idea to emulate someone who, like <KVCS>, seems to think she's Julius Caesar (or at least writes that way). Then again, as this post shows, the idiosyncratic <KVCS> writing style may catch on if <Notsodeepthought> is not careful. In any case, <Notsodeepthought> admires <Chopin>'s apparent willingness to read the lethally tedious <KVCS> posts, rather than placing her on <Chopin>'s ignore list, as <Notsodeepthought> has done.

   Chopin: 58 BCE

Greetings <notsodeepthought>,

<Chopin> is suffering from KVCS-itis; which is a mental disorder where someone believes they're in fact Julus Caesar. <Chopin> is currently taking some medication, and should be well in a few days.

"It is easier to find men who will volunteer to die, than to find those who are willing to endure pain with patience." "Men are nearly always willing to believe what they wish."

<Chopin> must go now. <Chopin> will soon leave Rome for Gaul. <Chopin> hopes to conquer central Europe.

Take care,

Chopin Ceaser

notsodeepthought: <Chopin: <Chopin> hopes to conquer central Europe. Chopin Caesar>. Ave. <Notsodeepthought> trusts Jupiter will assist <Chopin> in this quest. In any case there is nothing to fear until about 14 years from now, around mid-March. At that point <Chopin> may wish to stay away from the Senate in general, and the calculating Brutus (Computer) in particular.
Dec-11-05
Chopin: <Notsodeepthought> Chopin J. Ceaser doesn't fear anyone. You can ask Brutus to kiss my Helgi Ass Gretarsson.

JoeWms: Historians, old folks, odd folks: Does anyone out there remember one of the first (maybe even THE first) commercial computer toy named "Boris" that came out in about 1979 or so? It would "converse" with a dozen or so pre-programmed sentences displayed with crude dot matrix characters. ("Are you a rated player?") Goggle gives me a lot of Boris Spassky, but nothing about my first computer.

When I received my Fritz 9 yesterday, my wife mentioned the Boris I had forgotten about. Nostalgia - my only reason for asking.

Do you remember Boris?

<JoeWms> Re: Boris. I vaguely remember that thing. I also remember the Fidelity Chess Challenger and of course the Apple ][+ classic, "Sargon"

All of these programs were very good at simple tactics, which means that they could beat anybody who didn't take chess very seriously.
