You haven't upgraded PopChar for over two years, zero bug fixes, zero improvements, and stuck to your guns about the god-awful ugly freakin' 'P' that you refuse to put in the darn MENU EXTRAS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.... Now you want to charge us loyal folks, (since before you took over and ruined things) for a maintenance update??? I hope you finally go out of business and Apple's char palette buries you!
Think before "up"grading! - Version: 2.3, 11/29/2005 11:37AM PST

Even reading the included Read Me file first didn't prepare me for the surprise I received after "up"grading - my license key bought 25 months ago was no longer valid and I would have to pay $20 for an upgrade - a whopping 65% of the full price!
I think that it would have been good policy to remind the user of this (poor) pricing policy either in the Read Me or during the installation process instead of leaving long-time paying customers out in the cold with a non functional version!
Looking again through the ChangeLog I decided that I am not willing to pay them for a few bug fixes (which took them way too long to implement in the first place - how ling has OS X 10.4 been out now??) and went to download 2.2.1 again - works just fine for me.
Another very disappointed (probably former) customer

Just now I'm evaluating CharView, which seems a very good alternative to PopChar for me. You can place the icon to the right side of the menu bar, you can even make it invisible. And it costs only 15 $ and seems to have been updated regularily.
