Product Description:

Photos, e-mails, graphics, documents. Who knows what you've got hidden away?

Circus Ponies NoteBook takes all those snippets and turns them into searchable catalogs of information. Find anything instantly. Publish to the web in one step.

NoteBook is a combination outliner and free-form idea organizer that lets you clip, organize, and share unstructured information from any source in any way they like. The program uses an easy-to-understand notebook interface to provide state-of-the-art media capture, multi-dimensional indexing, and inter-application clipping services. While you're busy taking notes and capturing your ideas, NoteBook indexes it all in the background -- it even remembers your stickers, keywords, and highlighting. Whatever you can remember, NoteBook can find.

Circus Ponies NoteBook -- powerful outlining and organizing for your ideas.

What's new in this version:

  • Fixed a bug introduced in v231 that could cause the Inspector to sometimes refuse to become visible.
  • Fixed a bug introduced in v231 where it wasn’t possible to create a cell Clipping Service.
  • Fixed a bug where during HTML export, the attachments folder in the generated HTML would sometimes be deleted. This problem was related to missing linked attachments.
  • NoteBook reports in an error panel and to the Console when one or more linked files are missing during HTML export.
  • Fixed a bug where if you printed a page without including its background, the page’s name would not also print.

Product Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or higher

Circus Ponies NoteBook ReviewExcellent - Version: 2.0 (v232), 10/28/2005 11:38AM PST

Easy and stable. I am learning how to use it very fast. Much faster than learning "NoteTaker" (AquaMinds). NT may have a few more features, but I found NT preferences complicated and the program not always stable. StickyBrain (Chronos) is good if you simply want an uber Stickies program "on steroids". For an overall note-taking and notes organizing program with a lot of uses, then I think NoteBook is the better of the three. It is easy to see why this is popular with Mac gurus as well as we average users.

Only small gripe is the price. I would have set the price at $30 or $35, instead of $50.

I have used NoteBook quite some time with great satisfaction. However since the introduction of NoteBook 2, I cannot install it anymore without admin access. I think the location of the SpotLight plugin is the cause. Too bad. I'm switching to OmniOutliner, which is quite different but in its current version also very good and even a bit easier to use (notably the columns feature is greatly appreciated). I wish the software developers would try to understand that not every organization allows admin login anymore, and for valid reasons.

I've been using NoteBook for just over two months. It has REALLY streamlined my personal work flow. It makes it entirely easy to get organized, and more importantly STAY organized! Rearranging entire sections of a NoteBook can be done with one drag/drop. Formatting is extremely flexible as are backups/publishing to HTML. The support community is helpful and enthusiastic, and the product developers are extremely attentive to users' comments and suggestions.

This is DEFINITELY worth checking out the 30-day trial version.
