Product Description:

Carbon copies. And a whole lot more.
SuperDuper is the most advanced, yet easy to use disk copying program available for OS X. It can, of course, make a straight copy, or "clone" -- useful when you want to move all your data from one machine to another, or do a simple backup. In moments, you can completely duplicate your boot drive to another drive, partition, or image file.

Clones, though, don't work very well when it's time to recover from an unexpected system disaster - like a bad driver or OS update. Unless you take specific steps, restoring a drive image restores everything on the drive, overwriting both the system and user files. If that's what you want to do, great. But it's usually not, since all the work you've done since the backup would be lost!

Clones for safety.
To ensure you can safely roll back a system after the unexpected occurs, SuperDuper doesn't stop there.

With a few clicks, you can easily "checkpoint" your system, preserving your computer's critical applications and files while you run on a working, bootable copy. If anything goes wrong, just reboot to the original. When you do, your current Documents, Music, Pictures -- even iSync data -- are available! You can get back to work immediately!

Clones for industry!
SuperDuper has enough features to satisfy the advanced user, too. Its simple-but-powerful Copy Script feature allows complete control of exactly what files get copied, ignored, even aliased ("soft linked" for the Unix inclined) from one drive to another!

SuperDuper is perfect for software developers, software "seed" sites, QA testers, even system administrators.

What's new in this version:

The 2.0.1 release corrects the few bugs that came to light after the release of 2.0. Thanks for your patience while we worked through the issues:
  • Added support for certain Apple RAID sets that weren't appearing in the source/destination pop-ups
  • Fixed a bug that caused SuperDuper! to crash upon launch for some users
  • Fixed a problem in error recovery in 10.3.9 that caused a failure without a good diagnostic message
  • Scheduled jobs can now run when referenced by a path that contains a symlink
  • Fixed erroneous text that gave an incorrect (old) price
Of course, the new SuperDuper 2.0 still improves on the acclaimed original in many ways, including:
  • The ability to easily schedule backups
  • Additional imaging options
  • More control over shutdown
  • Better AppleScript support
  • Hundreds of UI improvements
  • And a completely rewritten, task-based User's Guide.
And it's a free update for registered 1.x users!

Keep the feedback coming, and we hope you love the new version!

Product Requirements:

SuperDuper! ReviewGreat, as ever! - Version: 2.0.1, 11/30/2005 03:48PM PST

I've been using this product for quite some time and, simply put, it is the best backup application for the Mac, bar-none. Flawless and FAST. Once an initial backup drive is created, subsequent backups (using the "smart update" feature) take only a few minutes. The tech support is also FIRST-CLASS. I've contacted them, only a couple of times, for a couple of issues that I didn't understand, and I received prompt, comprehensive, and personalized responses. And, my issues turned out _NOT_ to be related to this application's malfunction, but to my computer (e.g., a Finder "refresh" issue). However, the tech support response, none-the-less, enhanced my understanding and taught me something about the way the computer functions. I _highly_ recommend this application to anyone running a Mac. It provides me with secure and easy peace-of-mind related to backup.

SuperDuper! CommentaryBeware - broken aliasses and symlinks - Version: 2.0.1, 11/30/2005 03:38AM PST

I don't know what is causing this and why not everybody is complaining about it, but versions 2 and 2.0.1 break all of my aliases and symlinks when doing a complete erase and copy clone. All maintenance tasks had been run before as had always been done. Reverting back to v1.5.5 made everything go back to normal, i.e. an indispensable utility for everybody who needs a fully working backup copy of their startup volume.

that SD is worth its weight in gold. I am sending this from my old G3 iMac, hooked up to my LaCie Firewire drive, which is a clone of my G5 iMac that has just bitten the dust (needs new logic board, new power supply). Fortunately, I had backed up the day before my iMac dropped dead, and I am happily working away with no problems at all. Thank you SD!
