The new "Character Back Color" menu item is what other editors call a highlighter. It is now possible to highlight text in any color you please. The cool thing about this feature is that I asked the developer about it only two weeks ago or so, and suddenly it's there. Nice. Of course, other (but not all) editors can do this too, but Jedit X has features I haven't found in others. Try it and see if it suits your working style. What I like about it is its bookmarks feature and the fact that its been rewritten in cocoa.

Luxury cocoa text editor - Version: 1.0.19b, 3/18/2005 12:25PM PST

Lex Luthorghostdoguk_dotmac is right, now that TextWrangler is
freeware this very fine cocoa text editor is a little over
priced. Tex-Edit Plus at $15 seems more on the mark.
But Jedit X is meant for the asian market and therefore
priced accordingly. The toolbar has all the options that
I wish the Nisus developers could have included in Express.
Unfortunately it's not a word processor and Apples own
TextEdit suits my slight daily needs of an rtf editor.
(fifteen bucks and I might change my mind;)

SubEthaEdit, Jedit (the one written in java), Smultron, textEditPlus, TextWrangler. I have not spent a penny--- no reason to buy this. Sorry. Get real.
