SilverFast is high-end scan and imaging software from LaserSoft Imaging. By now standard for Desktop-Scanners and available for over 250 scanners for most OS. SilverFast combines an intuitive user interface with highest professionality. Beginners and professionals will appreciate the intelligent automatic functions as well as the possibility to manually adjust the image at any point. The professional user can adjust any operation via numerical input and can precisely monitor the results using a densitometer. The ScanPilot helps the novice user step by step to a brilliant image.

• AACO - Auto Adaptive Contrast Optimisation
An excellent tool for the correction of dark, high-contrast areas of an image while preserving the details in the highlights. It operates automatically when selected but can also be manually adjusted. The intensity and the complexity of the shadows, which are to be lightened, can be adjusted without affecting the highlights of the image.
• Extended print dialog with copy function
• This new function offers the possibility of printing images or image parts selected in the preview. The selection can be scaled, rotated or positioned manually on the print sheet. Also a 1:1 print-out, similar to a photocopy, is possible. The position of the images on the print sheet is pre-set by the position on the scan screen, but can also be manually adjusted by the user.
 
• Picture Setting Dialog
This dialog displays a real-time output histogram that shows the effects of all SilverFast Ai Studio settings on the final scan.
• Clone Tool
A powerful 16-bit Clone Tool which extends the previously implemented SRD function has now been developed. Major defects and severe scratches on the image may easily be removed or corrected. Entire areas of the image may be removed, retouched and altered. SilverFast Ai Studio may now be used for complex catalog production - without the need for additional imaging programs or tools
• Unsharp mask PLUS
The USM dialog and its preview windows may now be freely resized and enlarged by click-dragging the lower right corner of the window. Now a better control of the image is achieved before scanning which allows a much larger preview of the final sharpening effects
• JPEG 2000 support
The support of the JPEG 2000 format enables SilverFast˜s strongest compression to process such data up to 7 times faster than any other imaging software. In combination with SilverFast™s HiRePP function even 3GB files may be compressed and re-opened very quickly.

IPTC data support

The storage and administration of the scanned image files are very convenient due to the possibility to add individual comments, which are stored with the picture (embedded into the picture data) according to the ITPC standard.

What's new in this version:

• PrinTao is the new professional printing function introducing layout functionality for images and text. (Full text only in STUDIO Upgrade)You are able to create your individual layouts with text and images at a high efficiency. The integration of image processing, layout functionality and printing by a single software tool is unique.
• SilverFast JobManager. It is now possible to determine the way and order, in which the file name will be constructed (index at the end of the file name or at the beginning, prefix/suffix). The start index can be negative or zero, too.
• Enhanced Automatic Descreening. The new enhanced descreening is able to auto-detect the screen of the original. The user is able to apply it as a full automated function without any necessary adjustments or as half automated version with auto-detection and user individual settings in a dialog.
• JobManager: corrected minor displaying errors.
• Maximum number of lines possible to scan increased.
• iSRD: white scans as results of combining iSRD, batch mode, auto adjust, AACO and scanning to Photoshop - fixed.
