Information Related to Version:

Product Description:

Blue Crab is a program that you use to copy the contents of a website to your computer, in whole or in part.

  • Conduct fast offline browsing and searching without an internet connection.
  • Create a snapshot of a website for historical archiving.
  • Collect specific types of resources such as images.
  • Search current content more thoroughly than a search engine right on your own computer.
  • Check a site for broken links, or generate an HTML sitemap

Blue Crab is always gentle on the server, processing only one URL at a time. (You can even make it pause between successive downloads so as to not overwhelm the server.)

The demo version you download now is fully functionaly and runs for about 10 days.

What's new in this version:

  • The Dock icon is now animated to show progress by displaying the current level and a progress pie for the current level URL. (Mac OS X 10.3 and above.)

  • An alert is displayed if you try to quit when downloads are in progress.

  • You can now use the Preferences window ("Defaults" tab) to specify a configuration file to pre-select whenever a grabber window is opened. This enables you to create your own default configuration.

  • Changes in configurations (renaming, adding, deleting, etc) are now reflected in the grabber windows without having to close the configuration editor.

  • An alert is presented if you try to start a download without entering a URL.

  • You can no longer open two or more Preference windows at the same time.

Product Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher recommended

What a great way to set up preferences for accessing sites! I love the layout, it's easy to figure out, but not dumbed down at all. Support was also excellent and prompt and helpful.

Truth w Christ
If you are not an expert in all the Web Site techno jargon and just want something simple that works - I recommend Blue Crab. I have tried many others with great confusion, not so with Blue Crab. I also like Webstractor for single pages w editing ability.

Blue Crab was the first Web Site download app - that did not return a bunch of errors and did accomplish the task.

Only suggestion is a better user manual - I was not able to determine how to set the level of search - so I got the whole web- sites. Also - Would like to be able to take the files created on my Mac at Home w Safari, and use them on my PC (ugh, cough cough) at work, under Internet Explorer? Any Ideas? Highly Recommended.
