It's very convenient and well made, but NOT quite accurate. I almost missed my train in Wien, because of a wrong information in Metro. It gives me sometimes weird instructions for Amsterdam. But the application itself is very good.

Patrice, thanks for your initiative and vision in creating as well as frequently updating this wonderful POS app! Whether in my home city of Kuala Lumpur or overseas, Metro is an excellent tool in helping me get around on cities' rail networks... Thanks and keep up the good work!

Sorry Patrice, but there isn't any polish version of your program (metro-pl.prc) to this time, as you show in review:) maybe I'll spell you Poland's Domain Code: *.pl [Pi-El]... yes, correct! See we soon in the next 5.3.6 version! Wojtek from Warsaw.pl

Last week I was in München, and I was able to know the city just by using this useful tool. I had never traveled alone (ie: without my parents) on the subway before, and this program made my travel much easier. I'm looking forward to use this app on future trips. Thanks!

***** [Jun 16, 2005] by JonyJons
The roads may not be paved in Gold but this app is. Thankyou.

This program is the most useful item I have ever taken on a trip. During a recent trip to Tokyo, I used it constantly and it saved us hours of time trying to navigate the subway and train systems. Useful items: viewing all stops on a line, plotting trips between points of interest, getting time estimates. Download it!

After my wife and I spent a long weekend in Washington, DC, I saw that there had been an update to Metro. And then it hit me. All the time we were there, we could have been using this app. D'ohhhh. Better late than never, I tested it retrospectively and it worked like a charm. (I was still a little sad that I failed to remember to use it while we were there!) I also tested our "local" transit system and it worked great, too. Hopefully I will remember to use it on our next trip! :) Thank you for making this available as freeware.

Fantasic program works great on the sprint treo 600 phone. From a rating of 1-5 stars this program gets a 100 stars. The only problem I have with this program is that when i click on the phone icon it wont give me any telephone number to any place that I clicked on. If anybody knows why then can you please post it. Or can the author of this program please post how to use the phone icon. I just want to let the author know how much i TRULY appreciate making this program and for making it free. It really is so nice of you. :-) Please can you tell me why the phone icon wont work because it is driving me nuts, lol. Thanks! :-)

Awesome program. The Tokyo information is absolutely correct. This is an invaluable program for any traveler and kept us from getting lost in Tokyo many, many times. All we had to do was tap the name of the nearest station we could find and it would tell us how to get back to our hotel (or wherever else we needed to go). Mad propz to the developers and all the people who keep the info updated!!

This is a spanish review. Definitivamente el mejor programa para PALM. Vivo en la ciudad de México (La ciudad más grade del mundo) y el mapa del metro es genial! Simply the best Program ever created for PALM, Thanks a lot!

Fantastic application!!! If you do any traveling at all, you need METRO. All stops in Atlanta, New Orleans are 100% correct. I use the program on a TREO 600. Perfect with no problems.

***** [Oct 13, 2004] by Steve
We took the Metro all over Paris for a week navigating with nothing but Metro. Always accurate. Five stars is not enough for rating this program. And it's free!!

Hello,

**** [Sep 16, 2004] by Tony
Wow, what a great app. I do wish there were a couple more intersections for Chicago, but, hey, it's FREE. I can't complain for that price :) This is a MUST HAVE for ANYONE.

***** [May 19, 2004] by HT Tan (Clie-SJ33)
Brilliant app for navigating my way around major cities, even in my home of Kuala Lumpur... Thanks for keeping this wonderful piece of art free!

Hola yo vivo en santiago y lo unico que puedo decir es EXCELENTE.......

For someone who doesn't know anything of French, Metro was extremely handy in Paris. Subsequently, realised its importance in London for the night buses. Excellent work done by the programmers. Many, many thanks!

***** [Feb 24, 2004] by Dave
WOW, just got back from Paris, London. I used this program for everything. Where to go, how to get there, times, I just can't believe how useful it was! I bought a couple programs for my trip that were USELESS. Good thing I found METRO, because without it travel would have been much more stessful. And it's FREE, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

It's a great software!! I have being using MetrO from the time I first own a PDA (4 yrs ago). It provide accurate infos and make calculation from station to station fast and easy.

***** [Feb 12, 2004] by H. Spencer
One of the best palm software ever! Even commercial ones are left behind with such outstanding program. It's very detailed and it even tell you step by step what do to go to x location. If you ever need a mirror site for your program just e-mail me, I'll more than happy to support you in anyway I can.

***** [Jan 30, 2004] by Milagros Vega
I am a native New Yorker whose long-term knowledge of the NY train system was tested when so many routes changed after 9/11. This software helped me get around like a native again. The Paris version was perfect and let me move very quickly since I never had to stop to study and memorize train routes.

***** [Nov 14, 2003] by Jeff
Utterly awesome. Thanks for a job well done!

***** [Sep 18, 2003] by Tom Clifton
I feel like another 5 star rating is superfluous, but I have to give it anyway. Amazing freeware software. Only upload the cities you need. Surprisingly accurate.

***** [May 9, 2003] by PalmUser
I agree, fantastic program !! Best features to retain are the estimated time for the journey (very useful !!!), some famous landmarks included (very relevant), and regular revisions of the individual city databases to maximise their accuracy. Works well, and the title splash screen currently is unobtrusive, allows you to start straight away without the need to tap the screen first !

***** [May 8, 2003] by Australia Croc
Excellent excellent idea. This is a program that embodies all that is good about PDA software: free, simple, stable, small file size, with supreme hands-on relevance and usefulness. I agree that separate databases for each city is fantastic and essential. Has both train stations, famous landmarks, and even buses !! (gosh !) Dont change a thing about the program itself, just refine the accuracy of each city's database over time, and you have a truly marvellous program. As is usual with such a complicated ambition, there are shortcomings in some of the database details. I tested the Sydney database, and there are some inaccuracies with destinations if they aren't specifically train stations. However, this is a minor problem. When each city's database is refined and made extremely accurate, this is an unbelievably good download. Can I give Metro 6 stars out of 5 for effort, innovation and insight ????? Go on, let me. A jaw dropping program. When a person asks what a PDA can do, this is one of the programs you show them !!

***** [Jan 4, 2003] by Ron Warner
This program is amazing. We used it on a trip to London and paris. We were able to navigate the subway system with no trouble at all. This program save us countless hours and aggravation. Just enter your location and destination, your given all the info you need.

***** [Dec 3, 2002] by Ralf Lippold
Great program:-)))) Top goal should be to get schedule info from transport companies via data import (to keep data complete and up-to-date;-)). Any ideas or contacts around?

***** [Oct 9, 2002] by Carl (Genève)
...And it just gets better! I like the idea of having the tourist information in a separate PDB. File size (80k with the Genève PDB!!) and speed are what impresses me. It's also extremely accurate.

***** [Aug 7, 2002] by James Morris
Found a slight anomaly. When travelling from Knightsbridge to Kensington (Olympia) it told me to get off a South Kensington and catch the District Line to Kensington (Olympia). However the only stop that connects with Kensington (Olympia) is Earls Court. Nothing major but I thought you would like to know.

***** [Jul 25, 2002] by Zeno
Eccellente programma.

**** [Jun 4, 2002] by moog
I agree with carl, the interface could be a lot more intuitive... an iconic interface *might* make porting the application to other languages easier but it doesn't beat pure text. I e-mailed the author before and he quickly replied, seeming a bit snippy about keeping the icons (blind to flaws) and didn't even want to consider an alternative text version. Still, metro is an indispensable tool, worth the download.

***** [May 12, 2002] by JJ
This program has turned out to be a great tool. Planning a trip to paris and using the paris metro site I checked the program and found two better routings on paris metro. I then varified the routes with the metro site and it will save me time and transfers. Thanx for a great program at a great price, free.

***** [Apr 11, 2002] by Carl (Geneva, Switzerland)
As a frequent traveller, I find this fantastic. Only critisism is the interface... not so inuitive and the Metro splash screen is a bit annoying. www.sbb.ch do a Palm program for the swiss rail system with a great interface. Maybe get some ideas there? Other than that, keep it up. Great program and best of all, it's free!

**** [Mar 24, 2002] by Jaansen
A *wonderfully* useful program when you're traveling using the rail or public network systems in many cities! I use this program in Philadelphia, New York, and to a lesser extent, Paris (which has pretty easy-to-follow metro maps in my opinion). My only complaint lies with the esoteric interface, text or MEANINGFUL icons would be appreciated (otherwise this program deserves 5 stars!).

***** [Mar 14, 2002] by George Tsirigotis
Good program, but try to instal the databases/program to SD, but crach my m505. Only works in main mem. This is a bug!

***** [Mar 7, 2002] by Charles Braine
Simply incredible. Useful is an understatement! Accurate and Free too! As per an earlier review, elevates the Palm from the toy cupboard! Long may it live.

***** [Feb 12, 2002] by Mark
A must have for anybody with a Palm. This should be standard software. Very handy for people who travel and like to take public transport without too much hassle. Oh yeh despite the great number of sities all the cities I used this applications in is very correct.

***** [Jan 25, 2002] by SS
Simply stupendous! Gotta be the best freeware ever!

***** [Jan 4, 2002] by Paul Dunstan
This has to be one to be one of the most useful applications available for a handheld computer and yet it's FREE! It's always difficult arriving in an unknown area, and Metro takes much of the stress out of travelling. Keep on going!

***** [Dec 28, 2001] by James Morris
What can I say. This has to be the best freeware app available anywhere. I have seen many shareware products that are much inferior to this one. I have just been to Prague and am planning to go to Rome and New York next year so I now have an excuse to take my Palm with me on holiday. Hang on, that sounds really geeky. Sorry!

***** [Apr 7, 2001] by Robert Cullen
This well designed app worked wonderfully! My first trip to Paris and we never once looked at a Metro map. It convinced my companion that the Palm is not just a toy.

***** [Mar 23, 2001] by T. Peterson
Metro with the London Underground required only 43K RAM on my Visor. The application worked perfectly, and was both a convenience and a time-saver. One nice feature is that the major London sites are also indexed. So you could, for example, enter your present Underground station and select 'British Museum' as the destination. Another nice touch is that the approximate time for the trip is also displayed. This is one well designed program. Load Metro and leave the underground maps at home.
