Straight Checkers Gold and Mini series is a teaching program. The only one on this planet. Hall of fame games/problems with explanations of why you move where you do. Have a young student of the game in your family? SC is for you. For experts and masters too! The 1st 20 moves of ALL openings. (The 1st 35! in the new Goldv2 and 2+2. In many cases the entire game is shown!) Expertly annotated. Sample games and screenshots. Purchase/Evaluate. Use the links on this page.

Adding Fun Things

Many of our games/problems are animated and are Flash Presentations. Click next move and navigate through the solution.

Don't forget to see the 1st 20 moves in the 11-15 openings!

We have added a page on "Easy Shots." With little practice, anyone can learn to sight solve these! Great practice. And of course should one fail to solve them, The Flash Animated Board is available to navigate the solution.

Bob Newell's site is very instructional, with lot's of info. Be sure and visit it.

Tidbits

GAYP="Go-As-You-Please." This style of Checkers/Draughts, means you make the opening move you wish, and continue GAYP.
3-Move Restriction- means the 1st 3-moves are dictated by the drawing of a card that tells what the 1st 3 move are. The National Tournament uses both styles, with 3-move in the even numbered years and GAYP in the odd.
11-man Ballot- means a man is balloted off the board for each side. A card is drawn from a deck, and the card dictates which man, and then dictates the 1st moves for each side, then the game proceeds GAYP.
11-man ballot is never used in the National Tournaments or in International Matches where the U.S plays G.B.
For Int'l Matches, only the 3-move restriction style is used.
