- 12:55 PM - WSJ: No Dell, HP, Sony or Gateway Desktop Can Match iMac G5
by Bryan Chaffin - No desktop from the four biggest Wintel vendors can match Apple's new iMac G5, according to the Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg and Katherine Boehret. The two reviewed the new iMac, and said that Apple's media management solution, Front Row, combined with hardware updates in the unit make the "iMac G5 the best consumer desktop you can buy this holiday season, period.". »
- 12:45 PM - Intel/TiVo Deal Precursor to Mac DVR?
by Jeff Gamet - Intel and TiVo announced that TiVo will develop products based on Intel's Viiv technology. TiVo plans on adding Viiv compatibility to the TiVo Series 2 digital video recorder so that it can exchange files with Viiv-enabled computers. TiVo's announcement demonstrates the market's interest in Viiv, and Apple is in a prime position to take advantage of that when it introduces Intel-based Macs starting in 2006. »

by Jeff Gamet - A PowerBook based on an Intel chip may be announced as early as January, according to a Reuters article. Citigroup analyst, Richard Gardner, thinks that Apple may be planning to release new PowerBooks during the Macworld Expo in January. »

by Staff - Clear Channel Communications plans to start experimenting with video podcasts of its radio personalities, according to the Wall Street Journal. The broadcasting company will start by offering a commercial-free version of Rush Limbaugh's talk show to members of the US$7 a month Rush 24/7 club. »

Print Manager Plus is an application that tracks jobs as they print, recording statistics about each job, including supplies used. It can be used to account for printed documents as well as itemized costs per job, and can also track billing information associated with each job printed. The stackable hard drive fits under the Mac mini, and includes twin three-port USB 2.0 and FireWire hubs, and Dantz Retrospect backup software. The drive comes in 160GB and 250GB capacities, and has a smart switch that powers the drive up and down at the same time as the Mac mini.The MiniMax is priced at US$199.95 for the 160GB model, and $249.95 for the 250GB model. »

by Staff - Gefen announced the immediate availability of its updated 4x1 HDMI Switcher on Tuesday. The switcher lets you connect up to four HD sources to a single HDTV display. The switcher can also accept DVI sources with an adapter, is controllable with an IR remote, and more. The case has been weighted so that it doesn't tip when cables are connected, and now is available in black in addition to silver/blue. The 4x1 HDMI Switcher is priced at US$399. »
- 8:20 AM - MYOB Sold to Management Team
by Staff - MYOB Ltd. announced on Tuesday that it is selling its US operations to Acclivity LLC. The deal, which takes effect December 5, will make Acclivity the US republisher of the MYOB product line. Acclivity is owned by the former architect of MYOB US, Tom Nash, and former head of US Sales and Marketing, Scott Davisson. »
- 7:45 AM - Take Control Adds Two New Mail Ebooks

- 7:00 AM - Apple Releases Security Update for Tiger and Panther [Updated]
by Staff - Apple released security update 2005-007 for Mac OS X 10.4.3 and 10.3.9 on Tuesday. The update for both the client and server versions of the operating system includes security fixes for apache_mod_ssl, CoreFoundation, CoreTypes, OpenSSL, Safari, sudo, and more. Detailed information is available at the Apple Web site. Apple recommends that all users apply this security update, which is available via Software Update. »

- 12:05 PM - AmTech Research Sees Strong 2GB nano, shuffle, Aperture Sales; Raises Estimates
by Brad Cook - American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu on Tuesday issued a new research report that covered the results of his recent checks with industry and channel sources, which showed "a better-than-expected pick-up in sales of 2GB iPod nanos, iPod shuffles and [Apple's] new $499 Aperture professional photography software," he wrote. As a result, he increased his current quarter estimates from US$4.8 billion and $0.52 EPS to $4.9 billion and $0.54 EPS. »
