| The GBA Movie Player enables you to use your Gameboy Advance™ or Gameboy Advance SP™ to play video and audio files and read e-books from standard Compact Flash™ cards. You can use your PC and a normal Compact Flash card reader to transfer and convert your media files to the Compact Flash cards. The included software even converts files directly from DVD to the proper GBA format. The GBA Movie Player supports 'multi tasking', meaning that you can play songs while you are reading e-books in simple text format.
The main difference to the official Nintendo licensed am3 Advance Movie Adapter is that you will be able to create your own content and play your own videos. Furthermore the am3 Advance Movie Adapter works with Smart Media, not with the cheaper Compact Flash™.

Its Rules Review by: Darth Angel on February 8th, 2004 I have this product for like one month and have a problem that the video wont play but all the music and text were working fine and then I change the compact flash card and the video works super fine there must be a problem with the compatibility of the compact flash cards but mines works fine.
Im In Love With This Device! Review by: jono181 on February 6th, 2004 I read the review on this unit over at Shacknews and I jumped at the oppurtunity. So I ordered it and when it came I was in heaven.
It Is A Gizmo Review by: Bochman on February 5th, 2004 My feeling is mixed on this. In one hand, it is actually good to be abled to play movie & music on gameboy. On the other, it is a pain to convert those movie & mp3 to gameboy format; it takes time, and the quality that produced is not that great. I don't have the in-sync problem with the movie, but the picture quality and sound is not that great. With music, you will have a larger file than mp3 if you are using stereo; but who the hell listen to mono music these day??!! and the worst thing is, there is a lot of noise with the music file
Overall, buy it if you love gadget, don't bother if you want to listen to good quality music or watch movie, get a PDA......
Apollo079 Review by: sal carreiro (3) on February 5th, 2004 It's a nice product and works fine once you get every thing (docking station for the compact card & the card its self) the movies for the most part look good slightly pixilated but cartoons do look the best on the tiny screen. the only problem i have with the unit is how long it takes to convert the movies to a gba movie file. for an hour show on a low quality setting it takes a lil over an hour toconvert. but if you looking for a better sound and image for get it. dont let stop you from buying this product though. it does work great once you get every thing done.
Great Addition For GBA! Review by: Benny Choi (2) on February 3rd, 2004 I just got time today and I have to say I am really pleased with it. Converting WMV / MPG / AVI / RM / MP3 / WMA is easy and fast on a good spec PC. The quality is good considering the resolution on the GBA.
GBA Is Not Just A Toy Anymore! Review by: Raymond Kan (1) on February 3rd, 2004 A must buy!!! Wow, the quality is perfectly acceptable for TV shows and excellent for low action Animes. Need to see what the battery usage is like, definitely as usable as watching videos on Smartphones and PDAs. You can go a pretty long way with 256Mb+ Compact Flash cards.
Almost Perfect Review by: Rick Carpenter (1) on January 30th, 2004 This thing is great. Excellent for traveling, and it has wonderful display. The only problem is sound lag on some files, but this can be fixed with a future software update. Definitely worth buying!
Excelente Accesorio Review by: Ricardo Hernandez Canto (1) on January 29th, 2004 Es un excelente accesorio, además de que me sorprendió lo rápido que me llegó. Vivo en México y me llegó en 4 días hábiles. Buen producto
Amazing - And Dirt Cheap! Review by: Doublet (1) on January 27th, 2004 This is an amazing piece of kit! At this price you should definitely get it - it turns your GBA into something you would probably spend loads of cash on. Get a large memory card and you can store loads of stuff. If you're an anime nut, or have encoded tv shows, then this is for you. Check the board on this site for this product as it's dead helpful regarding any problems or questions you may have. Yes some movies may be blocky at times, but fiddle with the settings, and use good quality movies and music (try and convert garbage & you get garbage) and you can't go wrong :-)
Unbelievable! Review by: Glen M (1) on January 27th, 2004 I say this is the best thing ever created in the gaming industrie, it's perfect for long trips in a car or when the teacher starts teaching some boring stuff( i'm a student).
So, that's all i have to say the GBA movie player is just too good to be true!
VERY GOOD Review by: Kaeru-Yaki (1) on January 23rd, 2004 Some people complain about complications with the player or with the software, but I haven't found a thing wrong with it. It's only requirements are knowlege of how to operate a computer, and a decently fast computer.
with my K7 2.5 ghtz AMD, I could convert the movies in real time, or faster. The audio always synced properlu, and the quality was good enough to read the subtitles on my fansubs. Also, as far as DVDs go, you have to load up the dvd, select what options you want on the dvd screen, then rip the dvd. (some people gave it a bad rating because they couldn't figure out how to use it properly)
Anyway, a very very spiffy device over all. Definately one of my best perchases.
This Is The BEST! Review by: Homie G'er (1) on January 23rd, 2004 I love my GBA movie player! I was a little fustrated when I got it because I already put some movies on my flash card not knowing that im supposed to convert the files into gba files, so that kinda sucked. I have a question though, on the movie demo, what did that gameboy have that had a gamecube format when it was turned on?
Lotsa Fun, A Few Wrinkles Review by: Michael Johnston (1) on January 20th, 2004 This is a very cool product, and fairly priced for the fun factor. You do need a big CF card and card reader, but you can use those anyway, right? The unit is compact and decently made - it doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart from frequent usage. The software is obviously first generation, but works well at converting many compression formats. I'd like to give it 5 stars, but I knocked one off for the lack of decent documentation showing how to get the most out of this way-cool add-on.
A detailed user gude would be helpful, but in the meantime, a note to the new purchaser: use a DVD tool like DVD Shrink to remove unwanted audio languages from your DVD backups before converting to the GBA Media Player format...
It Doesnt Work Review by: ectopa (1) on January 15th, 2004 I got last thursday, thats when it arrived and i opened it up and read the manual. i got a movie of the internet and i loaded it up but when i played the movie it was pixelated and jumpy and frove every 5 seconds. i tried this for a few other movies and they were bad too. im sendin mine back. it is a useless piece of junk and i dont reccommend anyone buying it!
A Must-have For All GBA Owners! Review by: twisted_geek_girl (1) on January 13th, 2004 This has got to be one of the coolest gadgets/GBA accessories I have seen! It works like a champ, especially for watching anime or cartoons. I have a huge Looney Tunes collection and this is just perfect for watching those while commuting to work!! I can convert a 71MB cartoon into a 16MB file for the movie player using the provide software. The best part is the price!! I honestly expected it to be more expensive for everything that it does! Highly recommended!
Yay! Review by: Sat (1) on January 12th, 2004 I ordered it today and I just can't wait!!! I wonder how big should the card be to put decent length movies on it...
I Love It!! Review by: Unknown (1) on January 10th, 2004 I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! BUY IT!!!!!!!!! I gave it a five stars because it did more than i expexted. but there are still one or two problems.
Essential. Review by: James Lockwood (2) on January 8th, 2004 Essential: the only word I can use to describe this piece of 3rd party perfection. Don't get me wrong, it can be expensive. Although the Movie Player itself is reasonably priced, bear in mind you'll need a card reader and, obviously, a decent sized Compact Flash card. That shouldn't put you off, though. This neat little device is insanely useful, be it for those long days at the office, or for when public transport is just too slow. It's very simple to use, too. Load up the bundled software, peak at the instructions and then you'll be away, converting and then transfering files like a mad man. Though I find it best suited to cartoons and preview clips, the Movie Player is more than capable of playing the latest blockbusters if you've got a big enough Compact Flash card (though you may have to squint.) The most suprising thing about the Movie Player is the quality of sound. I was expecting muffled voices and random blips, but I was proven wrong. It may be a tad quiet without headphones, but it's no worse than your TV! I was a little worried the GBA Movie Player would be nothing more than a novelty, an oddity, a toy, but it has become a part of my everday kit. Each morning, I'll load on preview clips (and songs) I downloaded the night before, then set off to University, viewing them on the bus. From the tight design to the loveable, badly translated blurb on the back of the packaging, the Movie Player pushes boundaries never before before pushed. For innovation, ease of use and originality, this product deserves 5 stars.
4 Stars For The GBA Movie Player Review by: TKing (2) on January 7th, 2004 I've ordered the GBA Movie Player before Christmas and received it in good condition this Monday. I ordered it along with the Card Reader and a 256 Compact Flash card and immediately started to convert divx movies downloaded by Bittorend. Didn't come across any problems at all, very happy, and can't await getting back to work with this thing :) I am workin in a post office and most of the time there's nothing to do! Believe me or not, I got bored playing games, I want to watch some movies, lazy as I am ! This is prefect! 4 Stars because it didn't come with movies on the CF card!
Love Review by: love (2) on January 5th, 2004 This is the best
i cant belive this is so good
It's Got Potential! Review by: Jeffrey Wassel (1) on January 5th, 2004 I'll make this brief. At best quality, it creates GREAT video. Unfotunately, at this quality level audio doesn't sync correctly. At the normal quality level. Audio sync is perfect but video isn't as good. Finally, although this product will rip from DVD, the software doesn't know how to differentiate from the different soundtracks on the DVD (ie. Director's commentary, French, English, etc) so you always get the wrong soundtrack. I've never been able to get the english sountrack to watch the movie! I've emailed the developers and they know about the issue and told me it may be a while before they can fix it. Bottom line is, if they can fix the above problems, it will be a 5 star product.
The GBA Movie Player Rocks! Review by: Jeff D (1) on January 4th, 2004 I am very excited about the GBA Movie Player! I've only had time to compress a hand full of my Anime's but you can bet that I will not leave the house without it anymore! Converting movies from DVD's or SVD's is made very easy! AVI's and WMV's off the Internet too. Full 5 star rating!
