LEGO® Sekigahara Chess Set

The Lego Company came out with the "Ninja" Theme in 1998 with such sets as 6093 Flying Ninja Fortress.   Although some new ninja sets were released in 2000 e.g. Mini Heros Collection like set 3344, 3345, 3346, the older ninja sets are no longer being produced and are usually only available through auctions or out of the way outlets that still stock them.  I came up with the idea of a Ninja Theme Chess set only in mid March of 2001 and was able to produce the final product by the end of March and source sufficient parts for a limited custom kit.

This is your  opportunity to own a unique Chess Set designed using Lego™ Ninja Theme pieces.  It includes 28 minifigs as well as two slightly different specially designed microfig rooks in the form of  3 tier donjons (tenshu or central keep) of a Japanese castle (one pair red, one pair blue) and specially made sashimono (battle flags).

All the pieces are guaranteed brand new.  However, since all pieces used are Lego™, no glue is used anywhere in the Chess Set and some rudimentary instructions will be included.

To purchase the chess set, please go to my Brickbay shop to process your order.  The link to brickbay is here and called GoB - Quah-lity LEGO.  GoB stands for The Guild of Bricksmiths, of which I am a member, which strives to provide quality Lego custom kits.

Here are details and design notes about the set.

The kings are a red/blue shogun with katana and standing on a raised platform or dais with a flag holder and the sashimono (battle flags) of the 2 opposing armies of the Battle of Sekigahara, Tokugawa and Ishida.  The red/blue flags will also be included.

The queens are a kneeling female minifig also on a dais but with a bamboo tree behind.

The rooks are red/blue microfig scale 3 tier donjons in classic Japanese style.  Red and blue rooks are slightly different.

The bishops are black/white ninjas carrying nagatinas (curved bladed spears).  Note the white ninjas are one of the hardest pieces to obtain in Lego.

The knights are red/blue horsemen with armored torso and riding black/white horses and carry spears.

The pawns are red/blue soldiers with vests and carrying katanas.  (long samurai swords)

I hope you will enjoy this chess set as much as I did making it.
