Apple Releases Security Update for Tiger and Panther [Updated]
by , 7:00 AM EST, November 30th, 2005
Apple released security update 2005-007 for Mac OS X 10.4.3 and 10.3.9 on Tuesday. The update for both the client and server versions of the operating system includes security fixes for apache_mod_ssl, CoreFoundation, CoreTypes, OpenSSL, Safari, sudo, and more. Detailed information is available at the Apple Web site. Apple recommends that all users apply this security update, which is available via Software Update.
The Mac Observer has received reports that some users are finding it necessary to repair permissions after applying the security update, and others are not. It appears that people using utilities to perform low-level hacks to their operating system are more likely to need to repair permissions. We recommend repairing permissions to avoid any potential issues.
