Penguin Books India will be publishing two books on chess written by World Rapid Chess Champion Viswanathan
Anand.
The books, tentatively titled 'An Autobiography' and 'How to play
Chess', are scheduled to be published in 2005.
Ms Karthika, Manager, Penguin Publications told reporters that M/S Penguin would be contracting two authors to assist Anand in bringing out the books amidst his busy schedule.
The title for both the books are yet to be decided, she added.
Anand said his autobiography will contain all his achievements, starting from his childhood.
The book would contain the success story of a champion, his progress from an
International Master to a Grandmaster and then becoming the World
Champion, he said.
The book would also explain about his traveling experience abroad and his getting accustomed to various cultures and food habits. This would definitely be a guideline
for ambitious chess players of the younger generation, he said.
Replying to a question, Anand dismissed the idea that writing an autobiography was
end of one's career.
Instead, he was of the opinion that such an autobiography, at the age of 34, by him
was only a revolving story and this book was the beginning part of that story.
"It is my love for the game which inspired me to go for the books," he said.
On his second book, Anand said it would be an instrumental manual for chess enthusiasts everywhere. It would benefit up and coming players to imbibe sound knowledge of the game.
