Leon Goans was the favorite to win the 1985 Dist. 9 Mail Ty. Wilbur Aiken beat Goans in his match, and with this game I won this match, to win the tournament. and qualify for the I-D Ty. for the first time. My match with Goans was six draws, mostly following the books. Bert Delory (who I beat with five wins and one loss) complained that I could never beat him without all of these books.
