Which Is The Best Checkers Program?

You may print this and show it to others. But, this article will eventually be part of a book that I am writing. So, please do not distribute it widely.

Besides Chinook, which you can play at web.cs.ualberta.ca:80/~chinook, which is the best checkers program? There are four of them, which seem to be very good (both in features and stronger skills with an endgame database):

• DOS
  • Colossus
  • WCC from Infinite Loop Software (They don't list this DOS version, at their site)
• Windows
  • Nexus
  • Sage 6000 from PC Solutions
  • Wyllie Draughts (I haven't tried this one)
• Mac
  • WCC from Infinite Loop Software

PC Solutions gives away a demo version of Sage 6000. Or get the free DOS program Blitz Draughts 5.4 from them.

I'm sorry. But, I cannot break the four-way tie for you. They all seem fairly strong. But, I have not seen any test of their speeds or abilities. Colossus seems to have the largest opening book. All are fairly friendly, with a few features that drive me up a wall (irritate me).
