This game is pretty good. Sage (the program that I was using at the time) made a series of surprise moves, which I thought were corrections to the books. Then, Murray Cash sent me email, pointing out a correction. I originally called this game a brilliancy, it's still pretty interesting. The game was played at 2 hr./move, and I used some of my opening books.

Sage - J. Loy, 1991 (2 hr./move)
9-13 22-17 (not a very critical opening) 13-22 25-18 11-15 18-11 8-15 21-17 (29-25 PP) 4-8 23-19 (prevents 15-19) 5-9 17-13 9-14 29-25 8-11 26-23 (27-23 or 25-21 or 26-22 PP) 14-17 25-21 17-22 (or 10-14 PP) 21-17 6-9 13-6 2-9 17-13 1-6 24-20 15-24 28-19 11-15 27-24 9-14? (A surprise move, which Sage and I thought was a draw. PP gives 7-11 as the only move to draw) 20-16 [diagram]

The following pitch almost draws: 6-9! 13-6 22-25!(A) 30-21 14-17 21-14 10-17 19-10 12-28 6-2 7-14 31-27 17-22 23-18 14-23 27-18 (Here Chinook's database says WW) 22-26 18-14 26-31 14-10 31-26 2-7?(B) 3-8 10-6 26-23 6-1 23-19 1-6 19-16 7-10 8-11 10-14 11-15 6-9 16-19 9-13 19-23 13-17 15-19 (15-18? 32-27 WW) draw (19-24-27-31)

A - I would be tempted to move 14-18? (looks strong) 23-14 10-17 19-10 12-28 6-1 7-14 1-5 WW.

B - My mistake. Cash pointed out that Chinook's 6-piece database (he uses Nexus) gives this WW: 2-6* 3-8 10-7* 26-23 6-10 23-19 7-3 8-11 3-8 11-16 8-11 16-20 11-8* (Logical as this king must go to 12) 20-24 8-12* 19-23 10-15* 24-27 15-19* 23-16 12-19 WW
