The Road Not Taken
ICCF-IM Keith Hayward
I shall
be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages
hence:
Two roads diverged in a
wood, and I--
I took the one less
traveled by,
And that has made all the
difference.
- from "The Road Not Taken", by Robert Frost

When it comes to
chess openings, I prefer to play less popular, less traveled lines. For over two
decades, I have mostly played the Bird’s Opening, the Dutch Defense, and the
French Defense, which are all well known, solid openings. These are my more
solid, sane opening choices. However, I must confess I have a passion for
opening study and experimenting. Recently I have been experimenting, again...

As for me ... I am 46 and married to a great woman - Kathryn.
I have two kid's, Erik 19 and
Ashley 18. We live in the State of Texas, USA. I work as a design engineer for Forney
Corporation, designing Burner Management Systems which control the fuel safety and
operation of power plant boilers. As for chess, I started with the Fischer
- Spassky boom in 1972. I became a NM around 1980, a FM about 1990 and an ICCF
IM in the late 80's, ... forgot exactly when. |
Please provide me
feedback on this
article, and / or ideas for future opening article subjects. Remember, none of
that main line theory! <smile>
