Classic Games of Chinese Chess: #5

This game is reproduced from Karl Gruber, Das Chinesische Schachspiel, Peking, 1937. The annotations are based on those in my book Hsiang Ch’i: The Chinese Game of Chess (1974). I have also taken the opportunity of having the game analyzed by Pascal Tang's wonderful XieXie software, and have incorporated some of its analysis into the commentary.

In the game as published, black moved first. The colors here have been reversed to accord with the modern practice.
