The creators of HotDog have introduced a pagemaking tool for kids. Similar to a professional HTML editor in some ways, but unable to edit existing documents, HotDog Junior helps kids build web pages in a four-step process.

First "Choose Your Page". There are 10 templates with themed graphics, and prewritten text like "Pretty in Pink", "Under the Sea", and "Top Secret". Or kids can start from scratch and create a page from a blank template. (We had much more fun this way!)

Then "Build Your Page". (This gets more complicated, but is geared towards ages 6 and up, so we were able to follow!) HotDog Junior uses Web Bocks to introduce commands. Instead of remembering and writing HTML commands, kids get to drag and drop the WebBlocks into a page layout. WebBlocks include: Paragraph, Link, Image, Heading, Email, Line, and Sound. Kids can insert images and files by simply inserting a pathway.

"View Your Page" and take a look at your creation. Unfortunately the demo stops here, and kids can't actually see the HTML unless the program is registered.

The last step, "Upload Your Page", is only available in the full version.

Parents will find this download very useful in determining whether they want to purchase the software, but many kids will find it frustrating with so many of the important options disabled.
