Welcome!Welcome to the website for Scid ("Shane's Chess Information Database"), a chess database application for Windows and Linux operating systems. Scid is free but a donation (which can get you Scid on a CD-ROM with a high-quality million-game database) is encouraged; see the CD-ROM page for donation details. With Scid you can maintain a database of chess games, search games by many criteria, view graphical trends, and produce printable reports on players and openings. You can also analyze games with the chess program Scidlet or any other WinBoard-compatible chess engine, and even use Scid to study endings with endgame tablebases. There are many more features as well; the screenshots show just some of what Scid can do. Most menus and messages in Scid are available in 13 languages; thank you to all the translators. News
