How to generate a bug report

You the users can help improve the quality of glChess. If you have found a problem with glChess please tell us. "Bugs" can be any of:

- Feature requests - Do you have a great idea for the future? Is there something major missing?
- Usability issues - Is the UI intuitive? Are there minor problems that don't crash the program but are annoying?
- Major flaws - Can you crash the program?
- Compilation issues - Did glChess fail to compile for you?

Be as descriptive as you can:
- What OS are you running? (Fedora Core 2? Mandrake? ...)
- Where did you glChess from? (RPM package?, DEB package?, binary package ...)
- Who did you get glChess from? (From this web site? From SourceForge? From rpmfind.net? From you installation CD? ...)
- What versions of software are you running? (GTK 2.6? ...)
- What compiler are you using? (GCC 3.3? ...)
- How can we reproduce the problem? (Does it happen all the time or did you only see it once? Can you give us (a short) list of numbered steps that will cause the problem?).
- What error messages did you get? (Give the full text if possible)
- If you are familiar with debugging tools provide us with debugging information (valgrind output when running, your binary + core dump, strace/ltrace of program crash)
- Can you can provide a patch to the source code? (even if it doesn't fix everything)

The more information you provide the easier it is for us to fix the problem; but don't worry if you can't supply everything! Just make sure we know there is a problem.

Send the bug description to the development mailing list glchess-devel@lists.sourceforge.net. Unfortunately due to the amount of junk mail we were receiving on this list you must be a list member to send. You can register here. The list is very low traffic and when the bug is completed feel free to unsubscribe.

In the future a real bug tracking system will be set up.

We will read the bug and contact you if we require more information. Do not be offended if we do not reply, we are all busy people! If you find out more information later please send another message.
