What is the game for?? what type of system>
Possibly, this is a CD image, in which case you need the associated *.cue (the cuesheet) file, in order to be able to burn it. If so, just use Nero, File/Burn Image command (for instance)
You can open the file using "WordPad" but the information contained within would mostly appear to be gibberish.

Hello.
Just to let you know...
BIN isn't a type of a fixed extension like .EXE or .DOC etc
BIN could be used by different programs. Like was noted, BIN/CUE files are used to store/retrieve an image of a CD. BTW, if you don't have a CUE file, don't worry. It's format is quite simple and if you are missing it, you can make it yourself.
Also BIN files could be used for firmware ROM images, or for files meant to run on an emulator of some kind, be it game emulator, or some other computer emulator.
BIN is just a name for a binary file.

Also, if you are not using Nero, ISOBUSTER can convert the .bin to a .iso.
Of course, you purchased this game. . .right?
Another option, BTW, is not even to burn it on a CD. There is a great *free* cd-rom emulator called Daemon Tools. I always recommend it to everyone! http://www.daemon-tools.comWith this utility you will be able to create a virtual CD-ROM and mount your image with it. It does accept cue/bin files. Regards, - Jimmy

I've had alot of experience with CD-Images and yes as others have said it is one unless it's corrupted or part of an installation file.
As mentioned in the previous replies ISOBuster can be used to simply extract files from the CD-Images or Daemon-Tools (God Bless This) to mount it as a virtual cd-rom as said. Additionally if you have a CDRW then the best choice would be to "burn" it and most software support that format. (The bin stores the actual image and the cue simply describes how it should be burned).
Nero would be the best bet for you to use for "burning" it as it's simple. In the future if you wish to make your own cd-images of games and such i suggest CloneCD. (*.CCD).

I seem to remember BIN files were a *very* early form of real-mode MS-DOS executables.... can anyone verify this? (Remember the EXE2BIN program in Dos 4)
I have a bin file which is over 800 megs in size. I am curious, will it fit onto a cd?
Well, this isn't your question, but you do the math......BIN file usually don't compress....
I answered my own question. And the asnwer is YES. All you do in Nero is choose to burn a cd from an image and when you browse for it, you will only see the .QUE file. select it and its ready to burn. The only thing is that Nero told me that it won't fit unless I finalize the session. I agreed and it burned and it works fine. I hope I help someone other than just myself!
As mentioned earlier you could use Daemon Tools or alternativley there is alcohol which does the same thing i have used this for playing games before MOHAA, COD, Etc pretty reliable
WHAT YOU NEED IS A PROGRAM CALLED WINISO. IT WILL OPEN YOUR BIN FILE. JUST ASSOCIATE IT THROUGH WINDOWS. HOW YOU ASK???? RIGHT CLICK ON IT AND THEN CLICK ON OPEN WITH. DO THIS AFTER YOU INSTALLED THE PROGRAM WINISO.
Doesn't Windows have anything like magic to tell you what it actually is???
You have 3 choices:-
-"Mount" the game by creating a Virtual Drive with Alcohol 120%/Daemon Tools; -Burn it to CD - in similarity to what has been said previously, use Nero; - Extract via usage of IsoBuster/WinISO.

i have nero, but it can't burn cd images with a .bin extension.. is my version of nero too old? i have version 5 (to be exact: 5.5.9.8 plextor)
if my version is too old, what would be the best option to do? buy / download a newer version of nero, or another program?
Nero uses a CUE file to burn a BIN. The CUE has information on how to burn the CD-Image but you can type "*.*" in the find-file dialog window and select the BIN itself and it should burn correctly.
Unsubscribing from this.. it won't die.
ok USE ALCHOHAL 120% it burnes and realds almost all of the file types.. and it also serves at a emulator, it also emulates some "not correctly" copy proteched cd's.. try it.. and it comes in a modren and easy to use program here is the likn http://www.alcohol-software.com/
yeah dvc-daemon is exactly wad u need to solve this, just download install and then use it to load the file
ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS OPEN WORDPAD AND PASTE THE FOLLOWIN INTO IT: FILE "THE LOCATION OF YOUR FILE AND NAME OF YOUR FILE E.G e:\games\Halo.bin" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE1/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00
After you done this rename the file to "What ever you want to call it".cue then use nero to burn this file on to an empty CD. good luck

the best program that u can use to open this file is Alcohol 120% you can get a free version of the program of the internet. Since you downloaded that file for a game the chances are 99% that the file is a cd image file with Alcohol 120% you can create virtual drives on your computer so you don't have to burn it and u can also create cd image files
You need an Iso Buster!
why is anyone helping here!!!! obviously this guy has downloaded pirated software and I don't think any experts should help in his cause once so ever.
you can make a .cue in notepad and you can use winiso to open the bin without a cue and you can use alcohol or cdrwin to burn it. know what else you can do - STOP KILLING DEVELOPERS AND GO BUY THE DAMN SOFTWARE
A .BIN file could be a Karaoke file 9CD+G0
No program can open any BIN file. They are files needed only for one program. Most BIN files are not universal.

The best software that i recommend which is a really good software for opening allot of cd images (.iso,.bin,etc) Is a program called ISOBUSTER which could be downloaded as a freeware at www.isobuster.com. Simply install it and open the file with that application and it extracts every thing for u without burnning it on the cd. Best LUCK
I just use deamon tools, it works so well no programs that ban the use of emulators can find it and it works with all bin and ISO files. Thanks! Take care
Daemon tools is the best for virtual drives...
I've been wondering: With all the almost identical iso, etc. burners out there, why doesn't someone sit down and make one for free! If I knew more windows programming, I would do it as soon as I had time. (I do web-dev)

LOL. Are none of you MAME'ers. This is probably an image of the ROM from a video game. Basically, someone gets an old console game like PacMan (this is done more now with nintendo, gameboy, etc. . . also). They copy the programing from the ROM chip out, and then edit it so that it runs under a piece of software on your computer that ACTS as the original hardware. Presto, you have the original PACMAN on your PC. It's AWESOME (and somewhat against the law as well. . . depends on how much the original video game maker cares about you having a copy). MAME is a big emulator program with massive compatability with old ROMS. Here is the link http://www.mame.net/If the BIN is from an ATARI, NINTENDO, NINTENDO64, SEGA, etc. . . ROM, you will have to find an emulator program that will play it. I love Mike Tyson's Punchout, so I have a Nintendo emulator that I use to play it. Hope that helps.
LOL. Sorry guys, didn't realize that this one was accepted in 2003. Why is it still open?
Clone CD works. When you go to mount it, select "view all files" instead of "view Clone CD files"
If this is a game, it s probably a Rom image. Use an emulator that matches the console u download the game for. It can be a SNES, MAME, GENESIS, etc, rom.
Hope this help.

A BIN file could be a lot of things, be sure to use the appropriate software to burn the image. I recommend Nero also, but there are lots of others that do the same thing.
Download DAEMON tools and emulate that file is the best and easiest way.

You can edit .cue files using notepad. Open a .cue with notepad and it should look something like this:
FILE "C:\blah\blah\blah.bin" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE2/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00
In your case you don't have a .cue so try this this, you want open notepad and tyoe the following:
FILE "blah.bin" BINARY TRACK 01 MODE2/2352 INDEX 01 00:00:00
Save the changes and exit notepad and save the file as the the same name as the bin, but with the .cue extension. Now, making sure both the .cue AND the .bin are in the same directory, you should be able to successfully burn or mount the bin.
Good luck

pah use linux....
maybe it is not even a cd image
./*.bin
lol

Every .bin file that i donload i burn it using Fireburner.
Best regards

I know that it is closed, but I thought that a .BIN file was also a compressed file, such as .ZIP. I think that StuffIt can read it. (Aladdin Systems)
Don't know what good posting here will do, but I hope it helps someone around this place.
Paul.

use cdrwin to view the contents and run it withough using somthing like isobuster to extract it first.
bin filew
Iso Buster works for me. Run a search in google for it.
daemontools is a good choice. it emulates up to 4 cd/dvd-rom's just open the bin file within the system-tray of daemon-tools. www.daemon-tools.ccbtw: its freeware :)

You shouldn't assume this is a question about pirated software. I have downloaded the FREEWARE game Noctis and the DEVELOPER suggests ways to affect game play by adjusting settings in the .bin files. I came here looking for help on how to edit the .bin (b/c the Noctis site doesn't say how.)

Come on people... This question was answered over a year ago..!!!

Hey guyz ... try alcohol 120% . This software is also good to open BIN files. Alcohol 120% also can open *.mds, *.bwt, *.ccd, *.cue, *.cdi, *.pdi, *.nrg, *.iso, and others....
You can download a program called winimage to open the .BIN file. www.winimage.com
I use Alcohol as well, I really like the versatility of that program in how it lets you burn a BIN file without having to have a CUE file to go with it for example.
Any program such as Alcohol 120% or Deamon Tools will open these types of files for you. They wil create a virtual drive (like a cd-rom) in mycomputer and you can mount and un-mount images from there.
Nero will burn a .Bin file. Its sort of like an iso file. Also Win Rar will also tell you what is in the file. As far as the question being answered a year ago unless you have a monthly membership you can't access those questions and answers.
Not all cd burning programs support all cd image formats. There's tons of formats out there (.bin/.cue, .iso, .nrg, .img, .cif, .dat, I could go on and on). I am pretty confident nero supports .cue/.bin though. Also if you lost your .cue file you can use a tool like Lior's cue maker here http://webfaq.org/downloads.htm if the binary file is big enough then you can get the .cue file and burn it to cd. If not then it's a Mac OS file. Also you can use IsoBuster software to extract file from .bin file. http://www.isobusterdownload.org/isobuster_all_lang.zip
just download winrar from www.rarlab.com and you can use that another software by which you can open .bin files is ULTRAISO or NERO
Please someone close this topic.
I'll ask in the support area to close this question if its still open.

while i dont ever recommend downloading illegal contact a .bin file usually packs with a .cue file and you can use a free disc mounting program such as soft disc or daemon tools (both freeware downloads on download.com might i add) to mount the .cue file and create a virtual image of the file on your hard drive.
hello there, you can use winISO v5.3 to convert the .BIN file to .ISO and burn it to a CD using NERO or Roxio Easy CD Creator, if you don't have CD writer device you can extract the file contents to your hard drive into a specific folder. you can get winISO by download it from http://www.winiso.combut there is a small issue you have to deal with that winISO trial version doesn't extract larg files, you need to activate it to have full performance. i can send you the serial no. if you need to. wish that helps
To open a *.BIN you can use any CD burning software such as Roxio Easy CD Creator, Nero Burning ROM, etc. Or you can use a CDROM emulation program such as Daemon Tools or Alcohol. Jorge
