Is IMG the file extension? If not, what is the extension?

Most likely you can open it using Nero, or Alcohol 120%. The latter allows you to mount the image as a disk and use it directly.

If you use Alcohol 120% as suggested earlier you can mount it as a drive so you don't need to burn it.  You can get a demo version of Nero from http://www.nero.com/eng/index.html and burn it by selecting Recorder > Burn Image and select the file

The image was most probably created using WinImage :

Download it from :

With all of the apps having problems with this IMG, I suspect maybe it is corrupt and needs redownloaded.

Hey Hellee

You should be able to use Daemon Tools... this is by far the best image mounting software... what it does it loads the image file as a virtual cd-rom drive in my computer ... you are then able to install the program off the virtual cd-rom just like it was putting in the cd... you can also use daemon to mount images bin mds , img files and many others , has wide support lists.

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/download.php?mode=ViewCategory&catid=5

click on Daeomon Tool 347.exe

Hope this helps you out

If you aren't able to load it with this ... then possibly maybe you have a corrupt image file ... though it should most likly work with daemon tools ... let me know how this works out for you!

I dont understand what the file extension does either so once it's installed (which it is) does the img need to act as a cd rom?

Feele free to email me if it's a long one lee@terringtonstclement.info

Thanks

Ok Lee

The img file is basically a replica of a cd-rom you put into the computer but in digital format.  The img contains the exact same directory structure and folders and all files but the img file is a way for you to mount a cd-rom drive and use the files on the cd... people do this because a) its easy to download the sinlge and mount it as a drive b) it runs a lot faster when installing the program because it runs directly from the hard drive

Right so i have extracted all the files and installed the program but it asks me to insert the cd so should i copy the file as it was to cd and put that in the cd copy all extracted files??

ok... while your installing it ... I will tell you how to use it ok?

1.) Download it formt he site I gave you in the earliar postings

2.) Install Daemon tools ... press next etc pretty self explanatory ..

3.) SHould ask to reatart do that and restart

4.) When windows loads up in your taskbar you should see a red icon with like a lightening bolt type of thing in the middle... right click on this and we need to go to Mount CDROM DVD ROM and the very first time it should have a thing called set number of devices ... we want to set it to one (this is asking us how many virtual cd-roms we want to use .... we just want one)

5.) Now right click on The red icon in taskbarand select VIRTUAL CD-ROM/DVD ROM and choose Devicve [x] media "somethin like that | Mount Image ...

6.) We are now gonna broswe to that img file wherever you saved it ... and in the daemon tools browse windows (the one where you searching for the img file ... under the file extensions at the botoom ... choose all files ... this will make sure you can find the IMG file

7.) Once selected and click open ... should be able to go to my computer adnn doubelcick the virtual cd-rom and install the cdrom that way ... but most likly it should automatically popup ... but if it doesn't just go to my computer and doubleclick your virtual cd-rom drive

I hope this works for you Helee

your welcome ... daemon tools works like a charm.... just a note for you for future reference ... if you download more files like say bin/cue /mds or others they are supported by daemon .. so you should be able to use those with daemon to

Extensions
=====================

mds - alcohol 120% files
nrg - nero burn imaged files
pqi - power quest drive image file

these are some others that can be used with the program to

I'm glad this is now resolved ... as you will be able to enjoy whatever the file was you got

Nice job Helee!!
