Anatoly Karpov - Garry Kasparov

Like the previous match, this match was also played in Moscow. This match was much shorter than previous one, but much more interesting from chess side. Winning the first game Kasparov then lost games No 4 and No 5. Kasparov had again very difficult task, because he had to win the match, whereas Karpov, on the other hand, could finish the match with a draw result. After winning the 19th game Kasparov has already been two points ahead. In the last 24th Karpov had only to win. As it's well known, it's almost impossible to win such game (going ahead, two years later Kasparov has succeeded to do that). Karpov was able to end this game in draw, but he had to win and at the end he lost. Garry Kasparov has become the youngest world chess champion.
