Garry Kasparov - Anatoly Karpov

It was the forht consequent match that two players were playing between them. According to the opinion of Garry Kasparov, from the chess point of view it wasn't their best match. Both competitors were morally tired after three previous matches. But it's no doubt, that from the sporting point of view it was the most dramatic match which was played during the last decades. After the 22 game the score was 11 : 11. Everybody thought that 23 and 24 games would be two draws, but ... Kasaparov loses the 23-th game after making almost impossible error.Kasparov found himself in the same position Karpov was in at the closing of their 1985 duel, in need of a win in game 24 in order to tie the score and retain his title. In Moscow, in 1985 Karpov didn't suceeded to do that, but Kasparov always remains Kasparov. He kept his cool and move by move was improving his position until, finally, after his 63 move Karpov resigned. Kasparov remains the world champion for the next three years.
