A Man with a Noble Cause
06.08.2003 Paul Truong grew up in Saigon, where he won the national under 21 championship
at the age of five (!). At the age of 8½ he won his first national championship
and defended it successfully for four consecutive years. When the communists
took over the South he embarked on a truly harrowing boat journey to freedom. Now Paul is
trying to reform chess in the US, as revealed in an interview by his partner
Zsuzsa Polgar in her latest must-read Chess Cafe column.
