Nahed Ojjeh, Syrian-born multi-millionaire, created the NAO chess club and joined forces with the British Einstein Group and even put up the prize fund of the 2002 Einstein "Candidates Tournament" in Dortmund. Apparently some of the monies did not go to the players, and Einstein stopped answering enquiries. Now Madame Ojjeh has broken all relations with the Einstein Group. More.

Chess Club, has decided to break all relations with the Einstein group.
Since its creation, NAO Chess Club and its president Mrs.
Nahed OJJEH have been seeking the development as well as the reunification
of the world of chess. In that spirit, in July 2002, to guarantee the success
of the "Candidates Tournament", first phase of the reunification process,
Mrs. OJJEH put up a prize-fund of 300,000 Euros. The Einstein Group, in charge
of the event, did not respect its engagement. It did not pay out the whole sum
allocated to the players for the tournament. Some participants, among them Evgeny
BAREEV and Boris GELFAND, were not paid. For the past four months, NAO's inquiries
have remained unanswered by the Einstein Group. The Einstein Group claims it
is not responsible, giving false excuses. This is both scandalous and unacceptable.
These carry prejudices to the players and discredit the world of chess. The
NAO Chess Club and its President cannot be responsible for such behavior and
in consequence have decided to break all relations with the Einstein Group.

Madame Nahed OJJEH, Présidente du NAO Chess Club, décide de
rompre tout lien avec le groupe Einstein.
Depuis sa création, le NAO Chess Club et sa Présidente Madame
Nahed OJJEH œuvrent pour le développement et la réunification
du monde des échecs. Ainsi, en juillet 2002, afin de garantir le succès
du " Tournoi des Candidats ", premier pas du processus de réunification,
Madame OJJEH a octroyé une bourse de prix de 300 000 Euros. Cependant,
le Groupe Einstein, gérant l'événement, n'a pas respecté
ses engagements. Il n'a pas reversé l'intégralité du montant
de la bourse allouée. En effet, certains participants, dont Evgeny BAREEV
et Boris GELFAND, n'ont pas encore été rémunérés.
Depuis quatre mois, les relances incessantes effectuées par le NAO Chess
Club auprès des responsables du Groupe Einstein sont restées lettres
mortes. Le Groupe Einstein se défausse en prétextant des excuses
mensongères. Ce fait est scandaleux et inacceptable. Il porte préjudice
aux intérêts des joueurs et discrédite le monde des échecs.
Le NAO Chess Club et sa Présidente ne peuvent être garants de tels
comportements et décident en conséquence de rompre tout lien avec
le Groupe Einstein.
