Established in 1997, CompareStorePrices.co.uk (CSP) is now the UK's largest independently owned affiliate publisher with rapidly growing brand recognition and industry-leading presence in the major search engines. Major market research organisations place CSP at similar traffic levels to Marks and Spencer and Debenhams and ahead of Which UK.
From its inception, CSP has focused on market-leading consumer functionality. Our team of comparison engineers constantly monitors, fine-tunes and reviews product information to ensure the quality, uniqueness and relevance of our comparison results. We utilise our own sophisticated data acquisition and product comparison technologies on a dedicated server network. Our buyers benefit from up-to-date price comparison, rich product feature information and a price alerting system.
The site is continuously professionally optimised to maximise the position of individual product pages in the search engines. We also utilise advanced linking techniques to constantly build upon our strong link equity - essential to maintain strong search engine presence. We now have tens of thousands of targeted links to CSP. Indeed our linking strategy and technology has proved so successful that we have recently opened a separate search engine optimisation company specialising in effective linking solutions.
As a result, comparestoreprices.co.uk is now ranked in Google at positions 1 and 2 for many thousands of products and has an Alexa ranking which ranges (depending upon season) within the top 10-20K globally. We were recently identified as being in the top handful of comparison engines by the BBC. In addition, the site's functionality has resulted in a fast-growing audience of buyers who regularly return directly to the site.
All of this equates to some 2.5 million to 5 million highly targeted page views per month.
The CompareStorePrices.co.uk Platinum Partner Programme
Until now we have principally used product information from the major affiliate networks and we have become the top performing publisher for many of the major brands. We currently represent over a quarter of a million products from some 600 merchants.
Launched in May 2005 in response to the many requests we have received from merchants, the Platinum Partner Programme allows merchants to add their products directly to comparestoreprices.co.uk without the time and costs of signing up to the affiliate networks. As a Platinum Partner, your products will have exactly the same presence as our existing affiliate network products and will benefit from the same price comparison, price alerting and rich feature functionality, edited and quality controlled by our comparison engineers.
Over the years, we have built an opt-in mailing list which is used for targeted campaigns. Our Platinum Partners can have indirect access to this (we manage the mailing process to maintain the anonymity of our buyers in accordance with data protection legislation) to periodically promote specific products and offerings.
We are also building a further publishing network of several hundred theme-targeted sites and are opening sites similar to CSP in other geographies including North America, mainland Europe and the Pacific Rim. We anticipate extending the Platinum Partner Programme to these locations over time, allowing us to operate as an effective global partner to those of you with world-wide presence.
Costs
We operate a simple Cost Per Click (CPC) model. Every time a buyer clicks on one of your products, they will be directed to the page on your site you choose and your Platinum Partner account will be charged. This means that you only pay for the traffic you receive. We also operate a fraud detection and prevention system to minimise the risk of fraudulent clicks. The actual cost for each click is determined on a merchant-by-merchant basis and is dependent upon a number of criteria including market CPC costs, together with the type and volume of your products. As this is a new programme, there are some launch incentives for early joiners. The financial model will be regularly reviewed with each merchant to ensure that objectives are being met.
