Executive Director
Susan K. Hinrichsen has been
with the Illinois High School
Association as Assistant Executive
Director since 1992.
She is the 21st person in
the history of the IHSA to be
employed on its administrative
staff and its eighth female
administrator.
Susan was a three-sport athlete
at Southern Illinois University.
In 1976 Susan earned her
B.S. degree in Physical Education
while on an athletic golf
scholarship and completed her M.S.
degree in 1992 in Sport
Management.
Her 15 year high school
teaching and coaching experiences
in Illinois and Iowa include
volleyball, basketball, softball,
golf and track and field.
Sue’s area of
responsibilities at the IHSA
includes girls golf, boys and
girls volleyball, boys and girls
bowling, girls badminton, state
final merchandise and the Equity
Advisory Committee.
In addition she has
administered girls softball, boys
and girls tennis, boys and girls
cross country, boys and girls
gymnastics, scholastic bowl, and
the Sports Medicine Advisory
Committee.
She has served on the National
Federation Softball Rules
Committee, the National Federation
Equity Committee, and is currently
serving on the National Federation
Volleyball Rules Committee and the
Interscholastic
Advisory Council for High School
Bowling USA.
She is a board member for
both the Hook-A-Kid on Golf
Foundation and the Illinois Junior
Golf Association.
Sue is also a member of the
LPGA.
In September of 2002 she
was appointed by the U.S.
Department of Education to testify
before the Secretary of
Education's Commission on
opportunities in athletics.
