Description:
MessagEase is the fastest and most ergonomic text entry system for Palm.
This new version of MessagEase is the precursor of MessagEaseKB, to be released soon to optionally replace your palm keyboard. (learn more about MessagEaseKB at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MessagEase).

MessagEase uses a revolutionary new keyboard design, making it easy and intuitive to enter all letters, numbers and special characters quickly and accurately.
It also includes an entertaining multi-level game.

MessagEase's employs very few keys, the same number of keys found on a number keypad of a telephone.
You enter characters either by a single tap or a single drag on one the screen. Since these keys are few (essentially only 9), they are larger (much larger than QWERTY keys), hence easier to target, increasing your accuracy.
And since the letter arrangements are based on letter frequency tables, to enter text 71% of the time you'll do a single taps on main keys.
To demonstrate its flexibility, this application also supports Japanese Katakana.

This MessagEase application is a freeware, created for your enjoyment and evaluation.
The entertaining multi-level game, included, challenges your brain and enhances your text entry speed both in English and Katakana.
Playing the game a few times and scoring a reasonable score will enable you to type in excess of 40 WPM on MessagEase keyboard even if you don't type that fast on a regular computer keyboard!

In addition of Katakana, MessagEase supports full 220 ANSI character set. There is no need to change the mode or the keyboard to get to enter other characters, everything is all characters are accessible from the main (3 X 3) keyboard.

The text buffer of the current application allows you to type and keep about two pages of text, which persists over exiting and re-entering MessagEase, allowing you to preserve your thoughts and port your prose to other applications.

It also provides you with 90 locations in each of which you can store up to 200 characters for easy recall.

Last but not least, the entertaining game included in the software contains a surprise when you exceed the score of 1500 in each category!

Update Description:
10/5/04 MessagEase 5.4 - NEW TO VERSION (5.4):
- The learning game now has categories covering all groups of words and letters.

This is a really great idea, and I enjoyed trying it out. Unfortunately, upon exiting the program it crashed my Zire31 OS5, forcing a soft reset. If that problem gets fixed, I'd love to use this to replace graffiti.

The only complain I have is that the KB is activated b BOTH the "abc" and "123" of the graffiti area. And I need at least one of them to activate my Chinese keyboard, so if I could configure in X-master that only "abc" brings up the MessageEase, then I could use "123" for my CHinese keyboard.

Wordsmith problem is fixed (not sure if the latest version of wordsmith or MEKB fixed it...)

Love it! version 2.4 works great on an m515, Palm OS v4.1. I have weird returns on wordsmith but that's a messageaseKB problem I guess?

Holy cow batman! Like La Tortilla suggested, immediately go get MessagEaseKB (free download about to expire) to replace Palm's data entry offerings. This with X-master is awsome (hitting abc or 123 brings this up instead)! Stable, quick, and virtually no learning curve. No problem thus far with any apps including Yap, HandyShopper, and BDictionaris -- I have m500. I thought I had to shell out for FitalyStamp. Thanks EXideas!

Once users put in the necessary practice time, this tremendous program really does enable users to input text far more quickly and accurately than with Graffiti. I recommend going to the company website and downloading the Hack that allows you to use the MessagEase keyboard in any application. The developers have also been impressively responsive to user feedback.

It didn't work on my 111c. Inaccurate selection of letters and the drag function delivered unpredictable results. Nice concept though.

Are you joking? Get rid of Graffiti? YOU BET! This is fantastic. So, easy... why didn't I think of it. Took a few minutes to locate the letters but now I'm hooked. It would be great if you could write a Hack to simply make my Graffiti window disappear and a MessageEase Window appear in its place. My only problem is that I have to write text and then cut/paste it into my App. So, it's great if you have bulk text to input. Viable contender for Palm App of the year? Yeah, I think if it could somehow be integrated into the Palm. CNR Geneva

Doesn't work on my Palm IIIc. Get numbers when I should get letters (sometimes). Did not go any futher on evaluation.. removed from palm. Seems like a good concept, but it needs some more work.
