I bought a set in Toronto at Sony shop in July 2005 and so far have used
them on 7 flights - very good considering they are at the budget end of
the noise cancelling range. They make a definite reduction to background
rumble and I had an opportunity to compare them on a recent American
Airlines 9 hr flight Gatwick to Dallas with the airlines own Bose NC set
in First class cabin. There was virtually no difference between the Sony
and the Bose. Bose have a cup around the ear so some of their effectivness
must be from the cup, but overall the Sony were more comfortable. Battery
changed after 25 hours.
