Life is good
On a 17-inch flat-screen iMac: Repaired disk permissions beforehand, installed Security Update 2005-007 and Safari from Software Update, restarted, repaired disk permissions again. Safari launches, Camino launches, Software Update launches. [alert admin]

Camino 0.8.1 (Mac OS X)
Hope this fixes crashes
I've used Camino over a year, since v. 0.6 Beta, and never had a crash until 0.8. I've crashed v. 0.8 three times on two computers, one running OS 10.2.6, the other OS 10.3.4. Also, this week encountered issues with Camino forgetting certain preferences, such as where to download files. Camino has been rock-solid before 0.8. Hopefully, the best OS X browser will get back on track. Like almost everything about Camino, including the bookmark management. Wish you could choose to tab only between text fields (rather than tabbing to every item), as IE permits. Makes filling out forms quicker. Camino handles Java better than Safari. Safari (v. 1.2.2) still can't handle the Java on this page: http://www.kytc.state.ky.us/contract/ (try clicking on 2004 Lettings; it won't work). [alert admin]

Cut my speed in half
Tested speed before installation at DSLReports.com: -- Before, via Linkline: Download, 2,573 kbps Upload, 115 kbps -- After installing BroadbandOptimizer (and repairing permissions), via Linkline: Download, 1,382 Upload, 30 kbps -- After uninstalling BroadbandOptimizer (per the instructions), via Linkline: Download, 2,394 kbps Upload, 116 kbps Had nearly identical results testing via Megapath No hard feelings; the developer promised nothing. Clearly, some people are enjoying gains. My experience was with iMac 1 GIG running Jaguar via cable modem. [alert admin]

WeatherManX 1.8.2 (Mac OS X)
Pretty neat, but sounding an alert would be great
I'm impressed with what it does, though in truth, you could get pretty much the same thing by bookmarking your city from the NOAA site. The main advantage: Viewing your most recent temperature in the dock. BUT if it would issue an audible signal whenever NOAA issued a watch or warning (like certain weather radios do) even when your Mac is in sleep mode, THAT would be way cool and easily worth the $10 shareware fee. An immediate improvement
After a night and morning when I encountered about 50 communication errors and was unable to perform nozzle tests or clean heads via software, I installed this driver. Everything worked fine afterward, so I'm grateful. But I agree that the installation process is inelegant at best. [alert admin]

Wish it included a "Back" button
Love the ergonomics of the Logitech First Mouse Wheel. Just wish it included a "Back" button option (such as using the right button for going "back" in a browser). [alert admin]

Apple Safari 0.9 (Mac OS X)
Sure wish that…
when you run your cursor over a link that Safari would indicate the URL (such as at the bottom of the Safari window, ala IE). [alert admin]

Works just fine…
with Jaguar and a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical. The question is, why can't Apple produce a two-button mouse with scroll button? [alert admin]

For those having…
trouble (in my case, the progress bar in MacTFTP moved just a couple of notches, then stopped with a message that it couldn't locate the device, leaving the diag light flashing continually), here's what I did: I Reset the router, changed the password (using IE) back to the default (admin), used MacTFTP again and it worked fine. Then I changed password back. [alert admin]

Addendum: ReadMe claims "Added Alert sound if Severe weather statements were found," but it didn't seem to work earlier (when there was a regional alert). Also, can't see in Prefs how to activate/modify alerts (designate sound, etc.). Will monitor.
